Poll - What do you use your land line for?

Hi,
I'm so fed up of having to pay for line rental and broadband as if they're two separate things.
I have a mobile for calls.
They always show super low prices then hide the extortionate line rental in smaller font *cough*talktalk*cough*
It's got me wondering if I'm the only one.
(I know Virgin do Broadband only but they also charge quiet a lot for it.)

Broadband only or Broadband and calls?

Neither - I use cable.
However, you have to realise that BB over the PSTN is a kludge. It cannot exist on its own merits, it needs the coat-tails of the standard landline to enable its delivery.
Now, firms could offer an inclusive rate - one that does not include any calls element/CLI and is BB only, BUT the cost of the line rental due to BT Openreach for the use of their network would be integral. So, the price for the service would appear massively higher at the combined rate, than at present, only BB costs shown, as it is taken as read that a landline will be used.
I doubt this will ever change.0 -
If you don't need a landline then cancel it. Of course you will then find that you do need it to deliver your broadband.
It costs no less to maintain your line just because you don't use it for voice so you'll have to pay line rental. As you don't use it for voice you can obviously save some money over those that do by not paying for a call package.0 -
I use my landline to receive calls about my pc is infected, or we can help you recover £1000's in PPI lol
As above my mobile is used to make calls.0 -

I only use my mobile for emergencies, it lives in the glove box but 'cos i hardly look at it when i do need it i can't find it, and i haven't a clue what my number is.
So my landline is hooked up to the Internet and it's used all the time.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

I don't mind the cost of the landline being hidden because it is known in advance that it is going to cost £12 to £15. What I hate is when it is nigh impossible to find the standard price of broadband after the introductory period is up.0

My beef, is when the intro rate is shown in large type, and the ongoing cost is buried somewhere. If you could end the deal when the advertised rate ends, it wouldn't be so bad - but most rarely cover 33% of your formal commitment period.
The ASA should ensure the price shown IF an intro rate, also ties in with any minimum term.0 -
Pay for line rental saver. Works out at £10.75 every single month. You know exactly where you stand
