Is post office broadband and telephone better then Talk Talk?

I am with Talk Talk at the mo and they are ok until something goes wrong and i have to call customer services. I can't understand what they are saying and they don't often understand the problem, often putting the phone down and cutting people off if they don't like you. I spoke to a lady who is with the post office and says she is happy with them. So is anyone else with the post office? if yes, can you tell me what you think and if they are better?

Do you know if your phone line itself was LLU to TalkTalk? Try dialling 17070 to see if it quotes your number as I think only BT lines will (but could be wrong). If it doesn't then that probably means your line was LLUd and getting swapped back to a BT based ISP could be a bit of a pain.
Post Office is rebadged BT broadband - I imagine that means offshore support but hopefully somebody who is with then will comment on that.
== I did a quicksearch and it seems 17070 may give your number on TT but doesn't offer the 4 tests which the BT system does so if you get no tests offered its TT LLU.0 -

Last year The Post Office switched it's broadband and calls services over to Fujitsu and TalkTalk's unbundled service rather than though BT Wholesale. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Thanks for the info - I've been on cable for quite a while now and obviously haven't been keeping up....
I presume it should be an easy swap over then.0 -
TT LLU back to BT should not be an issue. It's LLU to LLU that is problematic. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Only if you really need to keep your number

They really need to sort LLU porting out though. It's a basic right to be able to keep your number and OFCOM would take a very dim view of any complaints about operators refusing ports.0 -
In that case (not retaining your number) it's not an LLU to LLU transfer then. It's a new line, which sidesteps the issue. No free lunch, and no free laptop

And allows moving from one LLU provider to another. Yes it *could* be problematic, but it's not impossible.
I set up porting for Tesco (C&W) so they can import Sky and Opal/Talk Talk numbers. Shame other operators didn't have the same forward thinking.0 -
I used to be with the post office and thought they were brilliant - good deals (especially the free calls to mobiles/intenational calls at weekend with the phone).
Customer services were always firendly, polite and helpful everytime I called for Internet help etc.
The only time I got annoyed with them was when trying to cancel as the phone lines are only open monday to Friday 9am - 6pm when I was in work.Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
Thanks for your replies. What is LLU in plain English please? I don't understand all this complicated 'jargon'
Is it worth going with the Post office, or is SKY better? Thanks.0 -
LLU is an acronym for Local Loop Unbundling. It just means that a supplier other than BT takes over the ADSL or phone line so far as the customer is concerned from BT.
You can have LLU ADSL on a BT phone line but you can't have BT based ADSL on an LLU phone line.
There is also a setup where you pay line and call charges to somebody other than BT but the line still remains a BT line.
Whatever happens it's still BT Openreach who maintain the actual line.0
