My broadband connection has disappeared

If I'm rehashing an old theme I apologise; it is new to me.

We had a very happy experience with TalkTalk broadabnd for about 4 years until nearly four weeks ago when it suddenly stopped working. We were visited by two engineers sent by Talktalk (for which they tried to charge us, despite failure to find a fault) and two BT engineers. The 2nd BT engineer said that there simply wasn't an available connection for us.

So, what happened to our broadband connection? Shut down? Given to someone else?

Has this happened to other people and how did they get around it?

Hope you can help,
Hellon
