Help! Do I pay parking fine from Asda?

I am a carer for my mum who has arthritis and I take her to Asda on Mondays and Fridays. I have to use a wheelchair which I get from Asda. I have received a parking fine today from Smart parking for parking at Asda one Friday in February which says that because I have ignored the ticket I now owe them £70. First of all I never had a ticket on my car which my mum can confirm, as when we have finished shopping I always take mum straight back to the car and she never saw a ticket, nor did I! I would never park in a disabled bay as I realise how hard this can be for more disabled customers , also my mum does her main shop on Mondays but we are never more than 2 hours, Fridays is just a top up shop and we are never more than 1 hour. also the letter does not say why they gave me a ticket. They say that if I do not pay they will inform a debt recovery firm or I may have to go to court, something I have never done. I am so worried, I lost my dad recently and my mum is not well, I only get carers allowance and my husband can only work part time because of a back operation. What should i do, i REALLY CANNOT COPE WITH ANY MORE PROBLEMS!

Okay its not a fine at all, this is just a speculative invoice from a company not entitled to your money. We see a lot of asda threads and smart parking, why not take a look at this one LINK and do the same as she did, go to ASDA and demand that they cancel this ticket immediately, don't ask demand.
Totally ignore smart parkingWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.

couldnt agree more with stromas advice, but remember this is a FAKE ticket anyway, nothing can happen as a result,so when you say very loudly,, i cannot cope with anymore problems,,,well, you dont have a problem with this, full stop, come back and let us know how you got on,,incidentally the real ticket is called a PENALTY charge notice and must be paid,, you DO NOT have this one,, just the FAKE one known as a PARKING charge notice,oh yes, you do have this one,=fake=LOO PAPER,,there you go,, jobs a belter aint it.0

I am going to asda tomorrow and will demand to see the manager , will let you know the outcome, thanks everyone for your great advice0

Be sure to point out that if he doesn't rectify the situation you and your friends/family will no longer use the store - and they will spread the word to their friends too. If it wasn't for the hassle I'd say take your shopping back and demand a refund.
Its been a while since this suggestion - go in there and fill a trolley with perishable items (fresh fruit and veg, frozen stuff) then get to the tills and say "is that the time? I've got to move my car as its been there too long" then dump the trolley and walk out.0 -
On the above, do your weekly shop there and fill up the trolley with everything you need, then ask to see the manager and demand that they cancel this charge, if he doesn't just say well put all these items back and tell him/her you are going above their heads will complain to the head officeWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. Hi there I'm new to this forum and would be grateful to receive any advice re Smart parking and Asda in Rugby. I too received a "fine" yesterday for not displaying a ticket......I didn't even know it was a pay and display no signs notifying you of this. I'm not from the area and when visiting normally park free of charge in tesco, first time sing Asda spend £80 and get fined !!! I have today appealed however would you suggest I take my issue up with the store manager when I am back there on Saturday ?. Any advice I thank you in advance0

On past form the manager will probably come out with the wrong information that the car-park doesn't belong to them but "to the council". Don't be fobbed off with that. The store does do own the land and the PPC has been hired by them. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

To both newbies, you do NOT have a fine!!
Try using the 'search this forum' button above the thread index of all the current parking related threads. It's on the right above the thread list once you are back on the forum (not this thread). See my signature as it's only ONE click away.
Then put in these keywords in the 'search this forum' box:
'Smart Asda complain Store'
and change the search to 'show posts' (NOT left as the default 'show threads').
Click and read threads like yours and also read other threads on the forum. It's not hard to understand what you should be complaining about as it's repeated that this is a scam, on every thread...
EDIT, here's a couple of threads from yesterday when I had time to post a longer reply, come on wise up and see this scam for what it is:

Do what they did. COMPLAIN TO ASDA.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

went to Asda today and complained to the manager, he got his assistant to ring smart parking and asked them to cancel it, but they said I had parked in a mother and baby space , the space next to me had the symbol on the floor but not the space I parked in. I told the manager that if he did not cancel this then I would write to my local paper and would not shop there again, he admitted that the car park did belong to asda so I asked him why my mother, who can only walk a couple of steps is not allowed to park in these spaces anyway, although I did stress that I had not done this, anyway he said if they did not cancel the ticket he would do his best to get it cancelled. Due in asda again on Monday and if I have not heard from him by then I will fill up the trolley and do as you all suggest, whatever happens they are not getting a penny from me
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR GREAT ADVICE, MUCH APPRECIATED0
