Tax Credits compensation

Not sure if i'm in the right bit, feel free to move me if i'm not :-)
Anyway, I moved house about 18months ago and informed the child tax credit peeps of this. Our claim is a joint one but for some reason they only updated one of our accounts, which meant we stopped getting any post from them. Included in this post was our end of year thing that you have to send back or they stop everything, so they stopped everything!
I have rung them several times over last few months and they are in aggreement that it is all their fault but that restarting everything is going to take them some time. They keep assuring me everything will be backdated (approx £42 per month) but I have had no payments now for 10 months and this is still ongoing!
Everyone is always very apologetic on the phone and i have worked in call centres so have no desire to take this out on them, but surely I must be eligible to more than backdating by now. We have serious money problems at the moment, and £42 a month is quite a big deal to us as you can imagine.
Anyone got any suggestions?

faxyourmp would have been my suggestion but the are all otherwise engaged at the moment.
But perhaps now would be a good time to air your grievances as to the competance of the Inland Revenue Tax credit department who are trying very hard to beat the CSA as the most incompetent, dishonest and malevolent civil service department.
Providing you get your facts absolutely right there is absolutely no harm in bringing these to the attention of those seeking re-election in your area or indeed Nationally. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Even when they have "problems" which are usually computer related you should be able to receive a cheque for your child tax credit (usually you would receive payment directly in to your bank account) The amount you are quoting is the basic childrens tax credit so it is not as if their are complications calculating your payments - contact them again-tell them you have waited long enough for the back payments but will wait for them to sort it out and trust you will receive compensation for the distress. We have started a new tax year now so no reason why you cannot submit a new claim from new address - put it to them!I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes
