Advice needed for Virgin Media Internet

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, but today I've phoned virgin to see if they would price match my bundle to match sky's deal of 50% off.

During this phone call i was told that they wouldnt do anything as i've apparently entered a new 12 mth contract with them on my broadband which i had allegedly agreed to when i requested for a replacement internet router ( i would like to add that my broadband connection is part of my bundle). During the conversation I had at no point been told of this new contract or recieved a contract to sign.

Virgin have basically claimed I was lying and got told by the customer service advisor that the customer was not right in this case. The manager has also agreed with the customer advisor.

Can anyone suggest what I can do as their claiming i have to pay over £100 if i wish to disconnect. we were also informed by the manager that we were not required to sign the contract for the new contract.

VM CS have form for this and you may well have got the Superhub in return for a fresh 12 month minimum term but all the individual parts of their bundles usually have separate minimum term dates.

Did you select the "thinking of leaving" option when you called - if not do that and try again. If you get the same story about still in contract ask if that is just the BB part of the contract and if so what price is the BB only portion for the rest of the term as you will be switching to Sky for the TV and phone initially and taking their BB once that term is up. This may or may not jog them into a better offer.

They are unlikely to match any Sky introductory offer anyway as those offers are for new signups and you aren't new to VM - when you were new to VM you will almost certainly have had some introductory offer.

You've NOT got a new contract - just a new minimum term. This would have been advised to you in the letter confirming your upgrade to th Superhub - did you not read it?

Any change to your services (if free) invariably imposes a fresh commitment - and ALL companies do the same, as it is preferable to being charged £25 for a router swap (for example).

Why did you not reject the the term - it's pretty clear in their confirmation letter. If you want to go with Sky (and get carp BB down a phone line, that's you prerogative) but its best to wait until your minimum term is complete.
