Agree that the fitting looks appaling, however with regards to the colour, were you not there when the carpet was fitted and did you not notice before it went down?

The answer is Yes ... see the 3rd para in the OP. :)

They didn't show us the colour of the carpet before fitting it. While they were fitting, I told them it didn't look the same colour, and that I don't remember it being so dark. After they left, I was able to unpack the sample from the utility room where all the furniture was stored, and compare it against the new carpet - sure enough, the one we ordered was a whole shade lighter.

I've just had a chance to see the YT vids (can't access YT at work). The quality of fitting is terrible!

I would have them take the whole lot out. I cannot see any way they can remedy that in situe.

Also I think you might have a battle because they dont use their own fitters, they try and absolve themselves of any responsibility by saying the employ local tradsmen

that's shocking, the fitter should be sacked.

makes sure you are 100% happy before paying anything else and I would make a big thing about the colour. The shop you bought the carpet from should be ashamed of that fitters workmanship.

Where did you buy the carpet from? it looks one complete mess, I wouldn't have let them leave the property.
  • I'm usually the first to play devil's advocate, but in this case I've got to agree with everyone else - they've done a shocking job and the carpet is a different colour to the sample.

Did you instruct the fitters yourself, or did the shop do it? If they did it, then irrespective of whether the fitter is independent, the responsibility remains with the shop.

The fitting is very very bad.

With regarts to the colour, it looks as if they have paid the wrong colour.

Get on to the shop and sent as already suggested a letter, do NOT pay any more money, and do NOT let it drag on too long with them fobbing you off or similar.

If you saw a sample then I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the one received to be the same! Only difference being caused by it being seen under different lighting.

As for the fitting.... WOW! Just WOW!
