Carpet Fitting.. does this look right?

We had our new carpet fitted the other day, but as time goes on we are discovering imperfections in the fitting.
We were also surprised that the colour of the carpet was darker than we ordered, we don't like it. We chose a lighter carpet, but the one that arrived is darker than expected, defeating the purpose of having it replaced. We know the shop will say "you can't expect exactly the same as the sample" but its closer to a different shade they sell than to the one we chose.
We paid almost £3 grand for the carpet & fitting.
As well as the colour, we're irritated by the stairs and a lot of the fitting. We asked the fitters to re-do some of the stair treads while they were here as they weren't cut straight. They argued with us, but eventually agreed to do some of them again. However, the problems remain, and I don't feel I can trust them to put it right again.
We paid the shop half and were told to pay the other half when the job is done.
I personally feel quite upset and want to go with different shop, which means we have to delay moving in and I'll have to lose £1000 in my customer refunds as I run a business from home and can't ship the products until the office is set up.
We don't like complaining and are perfectionists so does this look right or are we being too fussy?

At 1:13 in the video can you see horizontal bubbles in that the carpet isn't completely flat, or are we being fussy again? We don't like the colour or fitting.
Thanks for the help and input

No; it looks dreadful. It certainly doesn't look like it was done by someone who knew how to lay a carpet. Are the stairs open tread, so there is just carpet on the actual treads? (ie no riser?) Because it looks like it will fray to me (and I'm no expert).
Given that you still have half to pay you're in a strong position.
What I would do -
WRITE to the store, send your letter recorded delivery and tell them you are witholding further payments pending the fitting being remedied.
Don't know what others would advise, though.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

OMG That is a right Mess.
Sorry but it is.
Be happy...;)0 -
I'm no expert either but that looks horrendous and you are not being fussy.
I would definitely complain as if you move all your furniture in and live with it for a few weeks, it'll be then much harder to complain at that stage.
I agree with the actions that Valli has suggested.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
Thanks guys! Just to reiterate, we actually aren't happy with the colour either... it's darker than what we ordered. We wanted a brighter carpet, but the one that arrived is similar to the old carpet, which defeats the purpose of having it replaced.
It's an open staircase with wooden vertical risers, so the carpet treads are supposed to be cut to size and glued in. However, the carpet fitters didn't cut the treads exactly, the carpet edges seem rough, and they didn't remove the old carpet glue from the steps. They just added new glue on top, and spilled some over the edges. They said there's nothing they can do to tidy it up unless they use standard metal risers on each step... which would look weird on the staircase as it's not designed for that.
We will complain about the fitting, but regarding the colour, from the photos on youtube, does it look to you like the colour is too far off from the sample or would we not have a case there?
I personally just want to go with John Lewis and avoid the hassle of dealing with a small carpet shop again.0 -

The colour looks wrong to me.
And the fitting is truly appauling.
I'd be asking for a full refund. And they can come and collect it within the week."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
I'm in the same situation-sort of
Show the salesman the carpet we wanted-paid and off we went
Carpet fitters arrive and I leave them to get on with the job-when they finish we see.......wrong carpet to the one we ordered- the shop manager isn't in until Friday- what are my rights on this? Correct carpet fitted free of charge? Refund? Or am i stuck as it says to check the carpet before fitting- the salesperson wrote down the wrong code for the carpet.0 -

So did you sign the order confirmation for the wrong carpet?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."

If it's the wrong code then the buyer is very unlikely to KNOW that it's wrong, unless the codes are plainly shown.0

Agree that the fitting looks appaling, however with regards to the colour, were you not there when the carpet was fitted and did you not notice before it went down?
We've just had our carpets redone and when the fitter arrived that was the first thing he asked us when he took the carpet off the van - is this what you ordered?0
