The 'Indeed' listing site www.indeed.co.uk seems to pull all job ads together, may see more vacancies than checking individual sites..

gumtree and the 'new' dwp jobmatch site seem to be getting overrun with spam / phishing ads now..

also try www.LinkedIn.com - maybe some local networking groups?
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)

Maybe go direct to various firms websites and look for the careers/vacancies section.

I've got interviews yes but never a job from online.
  • Nearly come close to getting to the next stage through one of the big sites - but decided once not to continue, maybe regrettably : (

For all it's UJM frustration most of my interviews nowadays are jobcentre vacancies I'd have to say - got an interview coming up where the advert has been already taken of! can only hope this is a good sign...

I remember years ago when it was more pen and paper based applications, writing on spec, once I'd got the personnel or managers name - and it did actually work a few times! things we done when we were younger! not sure I'd do it now just because of the times we're in as much as I would like to

Maybe your CV needs a refresh? I notice when I make some changes/refresh my CV and upload it I get some interest. But like you I never get a bite usually lol.

However after 6 months I finally have an interview via a recruiter seeing my CV on jobsite, so stick with it.

In regards to transport interesting you, have you tried Network rails website? They have a few vacancies, maybe something there will suit.
    Bad luck breeds bad luck.

    Damn I'm doomed.
  • I've found them really good but I tend to use more specific industry related sites. You say your willing to try a new industry, why not look at transport/logistics in the food sector? The one thing I will say is similar to what has been said before. Once you apply through these sites, rather than going direct, you increase the chance of the agent who receives your c.v. to suggest other roles. I'm searching at the moment and have had two job interviews on the back of one application and neither were for what I applied for but both are good roles.
