Delivery address

I have sold an item and received a cheque in payment.
There is an address on the back of the cheque which differs to the address on ebay (it looks like a works address) and despite two requests for delivery clarification I've had no response.
I'm assuming I deliver to the address as listed on ebay?

I would deliver to the address on ebay if they haven't contacted you after you requested, that way you have protected yourself!! The address on the back of the cheque could be a different person who is paying for the item for the person who bid - does that make sense? It doesn't say, please send to: does it?

the whole point of them writing an address on the back of the cheque was so you would use that for delivery! otherwise why would someone put an address on the cheque in the first place?
the buyer most probably needs this specific item delivered to the address on the back of the cheque.
once the cheque has been cleared there's no comeback for the buyer, and no one can take that money off you, even if the buyer was to dispute delivery, ebay wouldn't be able to help cos paypal are not involved.0 -
That's why I queried it, but wouldn't it have been advisable for them to put a small note in as well instead of just a cheque?
What if I hadn't looked at the back of the cheque?0 -
Can you not get their contact details (ie phone number) off ebay? Or look their address up on 192.com to get their number?0

i would send to the address on the back of the cheque, thats obviously where they want it sent. if you send to the address on ebay it could be incorrect such as an old address.
if you had received a paypal payment from a confirmed address and then the buyer asked you to send a different address then you should only send to the address in the paypal payment so that you have paypal seller protection
but since they are paying by cheque there are no comebacks, just wait for the cheque to clear (usually 4-5 working days) before sending the item0 -

This is not always the case as.... for example, say my sister bid on an item from ebay, and I wanted to pay, I would pay by cheque and write my address on the back of the cheque if - you are supposed to do this in case of any queries?!

You are best not sending the item until your sure about the address. I would contact the buyer through ebay and wait for a response, chances are they will be looking anyway to check for any updates on the item that they won so they will reply.
I agree with the others though, the address on the back of the cheque is where I would send it too.0 -
I doubt if I would even see the address on the back of a cheque...I get so few I tend to sit on them for ages and just ship to the ebay address unless the person has specificallly asked for a different address to be used. I do not consider that an address on the back of a cheque constitutes asking for a different delivery option.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. that just goes to show how damn lazy they are!
but if the name on the cheque is the same as the name provided by ebay then i would sent to the address on the back of the cheque.
i've had this in the past where i just received a yellow sticky note on top of a cheque with just an address on it and nothing else explaining anything, and i was confused myself at first, but after contacting my buyer i was told that the address accompanying the chque was the address the wanted me to post to.I would pay by cheque and write my address on the back of the cheque if - you are supposed to do this in case of any queries?!
that all depends on whether or not the account holder is the same as the registered ebay buyer. but i wouldnt ever put an address on the back of a cheque for just query purposes, that just doesnt make sense.0
