It's supposed to be a posh person's surfing destination. That's all I know really. Difficult to get to without your own transport..... probably little else to do in the area except hiking and drinking local ales.

Nothing posh about Woolacombe but, no, unless one has transport it's not ideal. However, it does have a better bus route than many places in North Devon - such as Lynmouth.

I think a standard white commercial van is better. You can park it anywhere without being noticed.

    Things I have learnt today:
    1. Hamburgers are so called due to 'Hamburg'. I knew it wasn't because they were made of ham, but never connected it to Hamburg.
    2. There is a reason you are advised not to make a pineapple upside down cake in a loose-bottomed cake tin. Oops!

Once driven, never forgotten...well, more likely never got out of. It took contortionist tactics to get in and out.

    I'm feeling all nostalgic now:(

I remember trying one, but it was really, really hard to get in and out of. There are big box girders running down each side IIRC, and you have to worm your way in sideways between the girder and the roof. You had two of those? I'm impressed!
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I got back from Norfolk last night, after 5 days away from the NPs. My apologies for not going through all the posts that materialised over that period, but the NPs posted about 100 posts a day, and I simply don't have the stamina....

We were incredibly lucky with the weather. The best day was Tuesday, when we walked out across the salt marshes at Stiffkey to see the seals at low water. Amazingly, we were the only people on the beach that day. This is a beach that's about a mile deep and several miles long, with nobody else in sight. The closing scenes of Shakespeare in Love were shot nearby. Some other people's photos of nearby scenes, just to give an idea, although it was not as crowded when we were there:

You can just wander up to the seals if you want to, but we kept 100m away so as not to disturb them.

Looks amazing. I wonder if it was so quiet on the Monday. We thought about heading for the beach on the Monday but thought everyone else would have done so and the traffic would be crazy.
    I think....
