Used car dealer issue

Hi

I have a problem with one of he used car dealers.:(:(:(

I have bought a car and when it was delivered two days later tgere was no tax and log book.:mad:

Please see emails to and from dealers to outline my problem.

I would realy appreciate your advise.

Everything in RED is me and in BLACK dealers response,

Regards

I have bought a car from yourselves on Saturday 02/03/2013.
> The car is SKODA OCTAVIA VRS WV59 NXR.
>
> On the point of sale I was told that the car will be delivered to my address on Monday 04/03/2013 taxed and fully prepared to drive.
>
> When I took delivery- the car wasn't taxed and there was a message slip stating that you will tax my car the same day and post it to me 1st class on the next day ( Tuesday 05/03/2013). Today is Friday and nothing has happened.
>
> Additionally i was told by DVLA that the LOG BOOK will take 4-6 week to arrive.
> During that time I wont be able to drive the car legally. I have bought car insurance which started on the 04/03/2013 and the car warranty has started on 02/03/2013 even if car is unusable by me for this period until you ( I have paid you for TAXing a car ) will tax a car.
>
> Cause of that inconvenience I will have to hire a car to keep me going until I will receive a tax disc from yourselves.

Hi Michael,

As discussed sorry for this issue on our part, it is un acceptable although out of our control.

As discussed on the phone I will re-imburse the cost of the tax for you.

I will also contribute to your hire car cost at a rate of £100 per week for a maximum of 2 weeks.

I hope this clears the issue and we get you on the road in your own car asap.

Kind Regards

Good afternoon

I just wanted to get some update regarding my tax and log book.
We are approaching fast the beginning of third week of me having a car without a tax and log book.

I confirm that I don't accept your offers of reimbursing tax and contribution to car hire.
You need to put me in a position of redress meaning that not only should you be reimbursing all of my outgoings in full you should also consider compensation payment in consideration of the inconvenience you've caused me.

I have rented a basic car for 6 days this week (VW Polo 1.2) for the amount of £107.02 + £69 Insurance cost.

I will require extension to hire for minimum of further 8 days as I have to travel to hospital to see my wife who has just given birth. It is 70miles round trip and she will be in hospital for the next week.

The cost of hiring a car from 16/03/2013- 23/03/2013 - will be £184.92 including insurance cost.

Obviously my outgoings are increasing the longer thing take to resolve.

My total outgoings are so far:

Car Hire cost 11/03/2013 - 23/03/2013- £ 361.54, which is £27.81 a day.
Insurance on a car I can't drive - £974.82 p/y, which is £2.67 a day. (From 04/03/2013)
Taxi cost to and from car hire place @ £4 each way= total of £8.

Total cost as at 16/03/2013 will be approximately £210.74.
Thats assuming that the ROAD TAX will arrive before weekend.

Please confirm that you accept above by the close of business Friday 15/03/2013.

Kind Regard

Michal Gwiazda

I DID NOT GET A RESPONSE FROM THEM ON THE DATE STATED IN MY EMAIL SO I HAVE CALLED THEM AND EMAiL THEM THE SAME DAY

Whom It May Concern

Good Morning

After conversation with your colleague on Monday 18/03/2013 I beleive you have received my previous email dated 14th of March 2013.
I haven't received any response from you regarding my matter.
I would appreciate reply with solution to my situation by the close of bussiness Today Wednesday 20/03/2013.

I will forward copy of my email to you via recorded delivery for your records.

Kind Regards

Hi Michael,

Sorry for the delay in coming back to you.

I will compensate you £20 per day to cover all cost's upto the arrival of the tax disc with you.

Im sure you can appreciate I cant do anymore as it will become un-economical to have sold the car in the first place.

Alternatively we would need to un-wind the whole deal and ill sell it to the other customer we had interested.

Kind Regards

NOW THE QUESTION I HAVE GOT IS:

What should I do.

I have bought my dream car and now can't drive it.

Please give me some advise.

Regards

Michael

Sounds like neither you or the dealer knew what they were doing?

    You bought a car blind?

Not sure why they didnt just send you the docs to tax the car your self?

Also, why wont you be able to drive the car legally for 4-6 weeks? As long as the car is reg'd somewhere withinb the DVLA in your name it wont be an issue.

There wont be a log book/V5 as thei would have been sent away by the dealer to the DVLa with your details on it. this will then be posted to you (by the DVLA) 4-6 weeks later.

You can tax the car using the buyers slip off the log book (V5C).

It can arrive back within a couple of weeks but its pot luck sometimes.

Hand it back get a refund of all your money and buy another car?

Checking online it seems the car is already taxed until Jan next year?

Not sure why you needed to hire a car for a few weeks in the interim.

Didnt you get the new owner (section 10) from the V5C? Thats all you need to get it taxed as the dealer will send the remainder off to the DVLA.

Just ask them for the cost of the tax although checking on the DVLA site its not due until 1/1/14 anyway so there is tax on it.

    Something doesnt add up.

    HI

I have check car HPI and with DVLA. I Have even done investiagation who was the previous owner and when/where it was sold everything is fine.

I didn't get new owners supplement but got all the receipts for the purchase of the car.
They just messed it up big time and need to hire a car to keep me going... so annoying¬¬

Should I go for 20pounds a day compensation even if its less what I have spend? Or should I take it further?

Did you do the following prior to delivery:

    1. The car is insured in your name.
    2. Prior to collecting the car you sent the dealer a copy of the cover note to prove it was insured thus allowing them to tax it on your behalf.

If 2 did not happen then they wont have been able to arrange the tax.

You can apply for a new v5 from the DVLA so that isnt so critical and a check on the DVLA website shows the car as being taxed from January this year so someone has taxed it.

You can apply for a duplicate here:
    https://www.gov.uk/apply-duplicate-tax-disc

To be honest I am amazed that they are covering the cost of the rental car yet still dragging their feet. Maybe its worth calling them up as I assume you are not local to the dealer you bought it from.

I bought a car on saturday and car was delivered on Monday, car is insured from Monday.4/3/13

I have checked DVLA and I know its taxed but it is illegal to drive with no tax disc.
The thing with duplicate is that if I will apply for one it might be send to previous owner if the car is not registered in my name yet.
I have spoke to DVLA and they told me that i can appl fot Log book myself but it will take 6 weeks that means 6 weeks without tax. Dealer applied for the log book in my name on w/c 4/3/13.
I'm just hoping it will arrive preety quick...:(

Did you do point 2? If not how was it taxed?

Also how did the dealer apply in your name when you didn't sign the v5c?

hmm.. I wasn't aware that I have to provide my insurance to the to tax my car. Would dealers not tax it through their insurance?

what a mess if I would know it will be like that I wouldn't bother going 70 miles to buy a car...:(
