Scottish Hamper???

My friend is a huge fan of Billy Connolly & I've bought him a boxed set, but I was wondering whether I should make him a Scottish Hamper & put the dvd inside there - he isn't Scottish by the way - but did spend a number of years there.
So here's my question:
1. Do you think it's a good idea?
2. What sort of Scottish things can I put in there - I have decided so far on Ales made at scottish brewers as he is an ale fan, but anything more? No Haggis please as it needs to be refrigerated & knowing him I'm sure he'll forget!

if he has a sweet tooth, tunnocks teacakes, caramel wafers or snowballs, maybe some oatcakes with a small scottish cheese and a bottle of irn bru to wash it all down0

shortbread? miniature whisky with a nice whisky glass? It can be difficult to find outside of Scotland but what about "plain" bread? (I would love to find it somewhere local as I really miss the outsiders toasted and buttered  )
The irn bru and oatcakes are a great idea too.

Im doing one of these for my partner for this xmas he's scottish and i think he misses the comforts of home.......I was in home bargains the other day and i spotted a mini curling set 49p i know hes just going to love it and laugh his head off. Ive also planned to make a batch of homemade shortbread, i have bought a billy connolly DVD and 2 DVDs called still game and chewing the fat (grumpy old scots men very funny but hard to understand if ur not of the clan lol) also doing the tunnocks collection and his cousin is going to get hold of some tablet and some macaroons for me......ohhh and cant forget the old irn bru lol

If he enjoys Scottish comedy I'd suggest William McGonagall Collected Poems. He didn't mean to be funny - but they are absolutely hilarious expecially "The Tay Bridge Disaster"
"Beautiful Railway Bridge of the Silv'ry Tay!
Alas! I am very sorry to say
That ninety lives have been taken away
On the last Sabbath day of 1879,
Which will be remember'd for a very long time."
and on and on in the same veinA friend is someone who overlooks your broken fence and admires the flowers in your garden.0 -
