    :) Evening all.

I'm feeling as smug as a smug thing as have been beavering away since I got in from spending the weekend at my folks' place. In the past 2 hours I have:

    1. Eaten my tea, inc the last 2 slices of last week's bread and...
    2. ...made a batch of bread rolls, which are now baking.
    3. Turned a worn-out towel of Mum's into 4 hemmed wiping rags, which I'd volunteered to do as her machines (both) are buried under kipple.

    4. Did a tiny mend on the lining of one of the two pairs of shoes which Auntie turned out from my late Uncle's wardrobe on Saturday. They will go the the chazzer in a donation bag tomorrow as will....

    5. ...the novel Mum finished on Saturday night......and a twee little ornament which I'd always detested and which I asked her if I could take for donation.

Dad has also managed to de-clutter the Accidental Pumpkins from Nan's back garden (a Deliberate Pumpkin from 2013 got overlooked, rotted, dug in and spawned the Accidents. These were lined up on the street with a 'free to a good home' notice and disappeared in a hurry.

All in all, feeling pretty darned good about causing some decluttering to happen at the parental homestead and being well up on processing it at mine and will have it out the door by this time tomorrow, all polished and dusted and titivated up ready for sale.

:D Plus I have shall have fresh-baked bread, which is always one of life's simple blessings, don't you think?

  • I often read here but rarely post, but I feel the need to list what I've achieved as I'm struggling to see the difference!

3 boxes of books, DVDs and CDs to Music Magpie/Zapper.
Large bag of clothes bagged up for nearly new sale.
Small box of broken electrical equipment in car for recycling centre, along with a bag of shoes that are beyond any redemption and some fabric remnants.
3 nearly full boxes of stuff for the chazza shop.
3 pairs of shoes sold on Ebay, 3 dresses just listed.

Found two roman blinds that I removed from windows in the flat when I bought it. No idea why I didn't get rid when I first took them down, they've sat gathering dust for 18 months!

That's good going, allybee101. Sounds to me like you are really getting stuff done. I'm in the doldrums today, and probably for most of this week; can't really get going as our guests are still here, tomorrow I'm working all day (and Thursday) and I'll be pretty busy on Wednesday & Friday too. So I shall content myself with not letting to much stuff come in...

Decluttering frogs here today at Pavlov towers. 1 ceiling rose changed, 1 fixed, 1 new shade fitted, pelmets for blinds (that have been hanging for 4 years ) mitred and fitted, 4 blinds shortened, 2 bags delivered to chazza and that's just for starters.

OH &FIL currently turning the downstairs loo into a mecchano kit to see if they can fix it and I'm awaiting an imminent Argoose delivery (new sideboard) so I can put the living room back together.

  • Get one of those little zipped net bags for delicates from the pound shop or even make one out of something suitable if you have it handy. The most expensive machine I ever owned ( a competition prize) ate bras regularly but always choked on the wires. Those bags weren't available 15 or so years ago and it was an expensive habit too.
You were unlucky to lose the bra but very lucky it didn't damage your machine.

You're not joking. I asked mother how much to replace it - she said about £400.

I have about 28pence to my name

I'm concerned how it did destroy it though - the wire didn't pop out but the lining underneath the cup looks a little shredded and the materials gone hard, like it melted. It was only on a cool wash, though. I wonder if it got stuck in the door or something but this is second bra that blooming washing machine's eaten.

Been not very productive today - bought another bra on ebay (in turquoise; I'm very excited! :D) and sold a disability badge holder. Am going to go and find a box for that and the cat statue to post them this week, once I've emailed the winners and asked where they want them sent.

After that, decluttered a load of laundry to the right place and found two things for ebay. I also turned into my mother. She swears she put her work trousers in the linen bin so I turfed the lot out and said "Well, they're not in there. Must be in your room, then." Funnily enough, I expect them to reappear in the bin by this evening :rotfl:

:( A washing machine mechanic told me that the underwires from bras can get out of the bra and then get thru the holes in the drum and into the workings. His advice was to never put underwired bras into washers.

Have been a busy little bee at the t'office and have cut along to the chazzer after w*rk and donated a bagful of stuff, inc the stuff which came up from Auntie's via Mum's at the weekend. Un-shopping at its best.

Have acquired some fruit and veg in replacement but have already decluttered some of the tangerines, nomnomnom.

Still managing to keep the living room tidy but the kitch is a bit of a madhouse, but as soon as the 2nd installment of dishes have dripped dry, I shall wash some more.

Onwards, my lovelies, onwards and outwards. GQ xx

A bit in the doldrums - but I have put DH old satnav on Preloved & used the half chicken that he decided he didn't want on Saturday diced up with pasta for tea last night. We've got a funeral to go to tomorrow so hope I can get SOMETHING done this week. DGD wants to go to a Halloween Party as a Zombie Schoolgirl (????) so need to trawl some of the CS for an outfit for her. We looked on t'internet & they were more than she could afford & I said as she'd only wear it once it was a waste of money & she agreed!!!!! (I'm getting there with her ;)) so on a mission today.

I put bras in pillowcases - usually save them for when the beds are changed. or save the pillowcases for the bras.

Harder now i have one fewer bed to change (DD gone to uni)

Loving the idea of "accidental pumpkins" :rotfl:

:D Dad cultivates Nan's allotment-sized back garden as if it was an allotment, just 2-3 hours' work on a Saturday morning. The Accidental Pumpkins were self-sets, not true to the parent (prolly hybrid seeds) and didn't really look edible but were rather attractive. There was enough room to let the Accidents just do their thang, so they were left to grow in peace.

Anyway, a week before Halloween and peeps were glad to take them away as freebies to amuse the kiddies.

:o I have Accidental Chard and Feral Parsnips on my allotment, due to a bit of carelessness allowing things to set seed. In addition to the Random Marigolds, which stay or are uprooted, depending on where they occur in the plot. A little randomness helps the world go around.
