Scotland tend to have the old 'white meters' and SP in particular install 3 rate meters for E10. As stated earlier the few E10 suppliers use AMPY metes like this - look here at thread #9 . The Comfort Plus White Meter can't read E7 tariffs and ordinary meters cannot read three-tier tariffs.

If you do have 2 physical meters you are almost certainly stuck with SP. A~n~other alternative you have is to change tariff from E10 to E7 with SP then leave to go elsewhere. The only one other possibility is to pay SP to change your meter for a single standard AMPY 2 counter meter on E7 then leave.
REM changing suppliers on E10 is hardly ever worth the trouble.

Thanks, I don't have one like that picture, it is two meters, one above the other. As you may be able to tell I'm not very well up on this stuff and since I've always had meters with two readings on them I assumed it was just another version of that :(
SP did say to me that I would be unable to move unless I got the meter replaced with a single one - but when I told co-op this they said that wasn't true and they could still do it. Have a feeling they may be coming back to me now and saying they can't do it after all.

Hi all,

Hoping someone may have come across this before. After the latest price hike from Scottish Power I shopped around and switched to Co-operative Energy.

They came back to me saying Scottish Power had raised an objection and I needed to speak to them on it. I did so and they claimed that because I have two meters and two NPlan numbers (?) no one else will be able to take over my energy supply. Went back to Co-op and they insisted that this was rubbish and they could cover it no problem.
After going back to Scottish Power yet again they have reluctantly moved the objection but are still insisting that Co-op won't be able to take it over. Have told Co-op they can go ahead and reapply for it, but am a bit worried now that this may cause problems down the line.

Anyone else had this, or know if it should be an issue?

Attempting to switch supplier whilst having such a set up will invariable end in tears,

Stop the switch now.

How did you 'shop around'? These types of tariffs are not generally advertised, as not many suppliers offer them, and the vast majority of those that do will not accept new applicants.

Hi podperson it sounds like you have an arrangement with two supply numbers (MPANs) which most other providers will not support out of their original host areas. That means you effectively can't switch. However we can check you have the best deal. Please e-mail us at social@scottishpower.com and we will check it out for you. Thanks David
