Gosh this week is proving to be a long draining week, both on money and energy. Very tired aching everywhere think I have a cold brewing.
DS needs to get himself up and organised I aren't enjoying g getting up 15 mins early each day.
He is also really struggling with his work load which isn't good, added pressure of having spelling tests and labelling items. Think some teachers need to realise that for someone with dyslexia it is hard....

So, a cheaper version of a laptop would be a tablet and you can buy a tablet keyboard for it too, you can get some really good tablets for doing stuff like e-mails/browsing the web/doing homework. Or if she wants to play like proper computer games you can get some awesome computers that are much more powerful for a similar price of a laptop. Don't get me wrong, I love my laptop, but I need something more powerful than a tablet, but not as energy consuming as a computer.
There are some really amazing deals for tablets on Am*zon atm, you can get her a cheapish one if you're worried about her breaking it. Mind you, they're only designed to work for 2-3 years no matter how much you pay.
If you're looking for tasty, cheap recipes I look at two websites for my favourite meals, a girl called Jack (for slightly fancier meals based on basic and value brands) and thrifty Lesley, who has made up different meal plans based on spending £1 per person per day. I think the prices have gone up a little bit now due to inflation, but they are still so cheap.
The meals are mostly vegetarian on both blogs, but if you like you can add mince or chopped cooking bacon to a lot of them. I don't tend to bother asme or DH don't care too much about meat, we prefer to hold onto our money. Still, a bit of bacon never did any harm.
This week I've made, a pea and mint risotto, chickpea and mandarin tagine, tomato scones, peach and white chocolate sponge cake, chocolate & bean chilli, mushroom stroganoff, we did shopping for about £30 including treats and cat food, will probs last about 10 days. There's just two of us though.
I do silly little things to save money. I saved a bunch of yoghurt pots and I grow salad in them most of the year round on my window sill, as well as a few hardy herbs (try and grow from seed if you can, I haven't got the knack of keeping store bought ones alive). I make up soup for lunches, and this evening I had a wee wedge of lemon in hot water instead of tea. Sometimes it's just the little things that can help you along.
We work in the family business, but often there's not much work or we're totally overwhelmed with work. So we started our own business to make some more cash, seeing as we can't really take another steady job as we don't know when work is going to come in.
We're both quite interested in computers, so we offer to take people's broken computers away for free. We take them apart, test and identify the components and sell the individual bits online.
It's good because people don't have to worry about paying to recycle their computers and we do tend to make a good chunk of money when things go right (not very often though!)
I thought I'd mention it because I think you mentioned your husband is good with cars, and often cars can be butchered up and you can sell the individual parts for much more money than you could for scraping the whole car.
I had a neighbor who was a mechanic and would fix cars and other broken engines that he would buy off flea -bay and sell them on again, he'd make a good chunk of money after he was done. It's what gave me the idea.
I know it's a long rant, but I was having a good think when I read your diary earlier. I guess at first, you don't think about all the money saving stuff you know automatically do, because it becomes habit over time, when someone asks you, you don't even know what to say.

Hi Stranger!!
It sounds like you have been having a bad time of things lately. I hope things start to look up for you now. You could do with some good luck. Regarding your debt, I always think that even if you are not really going forwards, as long as you are not going backwards you are doing fine!
