no
no - ethernet cable or nas enclosure would be the solution most people would go for.
windows easy transfer
no, other than it supports windows easy transfer, google it.
Thanks again but I am a bit confused.
If I get the bog standard ones (with no chip) - then will I be able to use it to transfer basic small files?
-or they will fail to work?
so I have no choice but to use the expensive chip one?
(I dont want to do the router method)0 -
forget the bog standard one, you'll need a usb data transfer cable if you don't want to do it the easy way!!

The answers are all in this thread. All you need is an Ethernet cable, and you may already have one of those lying around.

look sorry to say this he doesn't want a ethernet and router answer as he is completely clueless when it comes to this he doesn't want to even attempt at going near this as it confuses hims even though it is a router and its job is to route like a telephone exchange he doesn't get it period or it is just too much hassle.
he would just be better getting a local it guy to come in and do it. it would only be a small job 10-20mins tops.
he just wants something he understands like a usb cable but what hes asking of it he doesn't fully understand he is going to have issues. he maybe just better to carry on with his usb stick as before. if he doesn't want to spend any money to sort it out properly, which is what he would be better doing in this case otherwise people are going to keep going round and round saying the same thing here and everyone getting nowhere as is atm.0 -
36 posts into a thread when all the guy needs to do is plug in a cable to the router?!
