About 2 weeks ago someone drove into the back of my car. He caused a few dents and cracks to the front & rear bumper and offered to pay for the damage himself rather than going through the insurance companies. I agreed as the damage was light and I didn't know how it would effect my car insurance.
I got a quote for £400 to have it repaired by someone who i have used before and has done a great job.
The person who caused the damage was very angry and complained the price was way to much and to get more quotes. So i got some more quotes and they came out around about the same price. But again he refused to pay and got his mate (of all people) to have a look and offered a much less quote but i didnt know who he was so and didnt want a poor job done for it to fall apart in a few months time so i said no. But again he has been constantly ringing me and telling me i am trying to con him out of his money and wont pay out.
What are my options should i just tell him to shut up and pay for the damaged he caused or go through the insurance companies and let them sort it out? But will that effect me even though i was stationary at the time and was no fault of mine?

Go through insurance, stop wasting time with this idiot. If he hit you from behind then it's completely his fault and won't affect your insurance whatsoever.Pants0

Tell him you want to go through insurance. If you'd done that in the first place it would probably be repared and back to you by now.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

This is a complete waste of your time.
Call your insurance company, explain that this guy ran into the back of you and give any details about him you have (car reg etc). Then wait for your insurance company to call you to arrange your car to be fixed.
DO NOT contact this guy direct again, nor answer any calls from him or his friends. Do not talk to his insurance company, nobody buy YOUR insurance company!
xCan't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
It's probably worth checking the policy first.
What does it say about reporting accidents and using authorised garages for repairs?0 -
Do you have anything written where he accepts responsibility, acknowledges paying for it etc?0

I don't know what this has to do with credit cards, but...
I'd report to your insurance company with all the details you have. Its obviously all his fault. I'd claim for a hire car whilst yours is in being fixed too - this will encourage the other insurance company to move a bit quicker as they'll be paying for each day. You'll be amazed at how much quicker they can handle and agree on the work needing to be done.
Speak no more to him personally - only through your insurance company.
If you have anything in writing, post it to your insurance company and quote the claim number.0 -
How did he damage both back and front bumpers? Surely that means you were pushed into something? Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'
