Bullies at the bus stop

I live in a village opposite a bus stop, This morning there was a "gang" (Boys and girls around 13yo) surrounding this other girl (Similar age) and being quite abusive whilst waiting on the bus to go to school (Public bus, not a school bus). I went over and asked the girl if she was ok, she looked on the verge of tears, others cleared off. The girl said that she was, that it happens often and that she just lets them "get on with it"
I asked whether she had told an adult and she replied no she was too scared to. The bus turned up, I asked an adult catching the same bus just to keep an eye on her because of what had happened.
I dont know the kids names to report them to the school but I do recognise one of the "gang" and know where their parents live. Its not the first time I've seen them kicking off.
Would you say anything to the parents? or try and find out who they are and report to school? I dont want to do nothing and watch the girl getting bullied but equally, i dont want to annoy them that they pick on her further.

Contact the school and do it NOW. I wouldn't get involved with parents directly, let the school handle it and they can just state that a member of the public informed them.
Well done for stepping in.0 -
I would report it to the school.
They may have an idea of who the children are when you tell them your address. You could take a photo of them next time so that the school can identify them.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I'd be a bit careful taking pictures of kids. You don't want to get accused of anything :eek:0

Absolutely ring the school. I wish there were more people like you about.Pants0

I wouldn't get your niece involved or name names. I think you should ring the school so that they can warn the children that a member of the public saw this happening and if it happens agains then there will be serious repercussions. Hopefully this will stop the bullies. If it doesn't then you need to decide what to do.0 -
Ring the school ASAP. Note down as many identifying features of the kids involved as you can, identify the bus stop, and offer to e-mail this info to the school. You will probably never know whether they identify the kids responsible but actually they might well have a good idea who the culprits are. Don't not report it just because you think they might not be able to work out who it is.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Please contact the school - it sounds like very bad bullying. The scars will run deep for that little girl - I was very badly bullied at school and I can remember the feelings of dread. I still struggle with it today. Well done for intervening xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Yes. report it to the school.
These bullies may well have learned their ways from their parents, so I have a feeling the parents would take exception if you approached them directly, which wouldn't be nice for you especially in a smaller village community.Early retired - 18th December 2014
