Los Angeles Hotels - Help Please

Family of six - 2 parents, 3 adult sons and 1 adult sons girlfriend - planning a trip to Los Angeles in August/September. We require three rooms - 2 doubles and 1 with 2 separate beds.

Ideally would like breakfast to be included in the price.

Looking at around £800 each including flights and ideally including transfers. For 9-14 days.

Suggestions please!

Los Angeles is a very big place. Where do you want to be/ what do you want to see? Also where do you want transfers to - are you not planning on driving?

£800 is a very low budget for what you are looking for, although it may be attainable if you avoid the school holidays.

As above LA is enormous and can take hours to drive from one side to the other.

First thing is decide where you want to be.

Secondly most hotels in america come with 2 queens beds as standard and only charge per room.

I have had a decent best western in pasadena which is close to santa anita for the horse racing and not far (relatively speaking) to 6 flags magic mountain.

I stayed in a very nice radisson in buena park almost outside the gates to Knotts berry farm and not far rom Disney also relatively close to the Angels stadium for Baseball

I think your budget may be doable if you can get flights for around £500 that would leave £1800 for 9 nights or £200 a night or £66 a night for each room, wont be easy.

I would def think about upping you budget.

EDIT just checked the radisson I stayed at for the end of Aug. they are great rooms and breakfast is inc, $126 a night plus tax for prepaid no refund rate which is about £90 a night, after looking at that I dont think your budget is doable

Apart from anything else why do you want 9/14 days in LA 3 is plenty

Hotels sell on a room only basis, you buy breakfast either in the hotel or a local coffee shop. What on earth are you going to do in LA for 14 days, a day to Universal, a day to Disney, if you are desperate a day looking at Hollywood and a day at the beach. California has so much to offer, you really do not want to spend too long in LA. Drive up the coast to San Francisco or down to Laguna Beach and San Diego. Price wise I don't think you have any chance of meet your budget, air fares alone are around £750 for 1st to 15th September

have a look on somewhere like Expedia for a flight and hotel. A quick look for 10 days in Sept shows a number of 1* or 2* motels within your budget but you really need to specify the area

Many hotels in LA do offer B and B, agreed though 9/14 days is waaaay to long

You missed out Knotts berry and 6flags....way more fun than Disney

6Flags is for those with no fear, that excludes me! I am old fashioned and still love Disney but 4 nights is plenty for LA, move on to somewhere decent as soon as you can

Like others, I don't think your budget is realistic, particularly with the exchange rate being so poor atm.
On Kayak, the cheapest flights, flying Delta, midweek, with a change in Detroit, are approx £450 (direct flights with BA are about £720)
This would leave around £350 pp or £700 per couple/pair for accommodation.
Even for 9 nights (and with the coast of flights and the time it takes to acclimatise to the time difference I wouldn't go for less than 14 nights, personally) that's $116 per room, per night.
For 14 nights that's $75.
Don't forget that the prices hotels quote initially don't include taxes.

Expedia have a few deals for around £800 for 2 weeks including accommodation, but the hotels are not anywhere I'd want to stay (mainly around the airport)
What you would then have to consider is how you'd get around and get to any of the places/attractions that you're going to LA to do/see.
