Car insurance NCB fiasco (help)

Hi all, was wondering if anyone else had come across this problem. I am trying to get new quotes for my partner but having a nightmare. She passed her test in Dec. 2011 but had been driving as provisional in her own car so to date when her insurance is due (31st) she will have 4yrs ncb. The problem is when I put these details in no-one seems to accept this. Hope someone can help or advise. Cheers Phil.:(

I always assumed the NCB only started after passing your test and driving alone so your partner would only have 1 year NCBIf you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0

NCB usually only applies to a policy as the main driver and insurance in their details after they hold a full license and not being a named driver.0

Well, there you go, problem solved. And quick too eh !!!make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
She was the main driver and the insurance was in her name otherwise she wouldn't have 4yrs. If I enter that she has been passed test 2yrs then it is accepted. I have spoken to co-op insurance and they confirmed this as thier system not accepst 1yrs passed and also most comparison sites do not give option of interim periods.0

Stick with the company that have given her the no claims for the past 4 years?
Stay with with them for 5 years and it probably wont matter about having to say 5 years no claims or 9 years when moving to a new company.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Insurers will not have a problem with it, it is simply websites that do.
Websites are designed to be simple to use for 95% of the population to use. To be able to get it so 100% of people to be able to use it then it becomes complicated for everyone.0 -
Thanks last poster, does that mean going the old way with book and insurers list of freephone numbers.0

Yeah you'll have to call. In my last company when someone passed a test we put them down as having a full licence and when asked how many years they had a licence we would take into account full and provisional years which would mean we would accept their NCD.I work for a leading insurance company as an Insurance Advisor dealing with Commercial Insurance. Feel free to ask me any questions but please do not take what I say as correct advice at all times, as every insurance company works differently to others.0

Thanks, I cannot understand why such a simple thing is overlooked. It is like comparison sites and their associates think all people with provisional licences only drive learner school cars. It's so annoying.0

I wouldn't trust comparison sites anyway, they don't ask the right questions a lot of the time in my experience and can't handle any query deviating from the norm.I work for a leading insurance company as an Insurance Advisor dealing with Commercial Insurance.
