Anyone tried this...
Have one phone setup on a gmail account.
I (wife infact) wants to swap over to using a new phone that has been setup on a different gmail account, different apps installed and so on.
If I change the gmail account setting in the new phone to the one from the old phone I am worried the thing will try to reinstall all the apps the old phone had on it
Does this happen or instead will the Play store update to the apps currently on the new phone and all will be well?
I got the new one just right, don't want it messed up by Google. Settings, email, contacts that is straight forward gmail sync. I know.

Why not just add a second gmail address to the phone?
Android phones seem to have one "main" email address, but you can add as many other ones as you like (for the purpose of accessing emails).
It can be a pain to change the main email address as you have to set up your phone again (AFAIK).
Do you really need to change the main email address or do you just want to add a secondary one?0 -

Hi
The original Gmail account has various other pop3 accounts set to forward copies of messages to it so would be a bit fiddly to switch to new account. Switching to the original would also bring over her calendar and contacts.
I am thinking, normally you can uninstall apps from the phone offline, next time you connect up Google Play catches up. I wonder if this will be similar and play will update, job done. Might just be a case of being brave!0 -

I recently changed from one android to another, the device will not automatically adopt all the previous apps, unless you want it to.
Simply add your gmail to the new device and continue as you wish.0 -

I have 2 devices,a tablet and a phone and only 1 gmail account.
I have different apps on each device. Each device updates the apps independently.0 -

Wow!
When you log in Play with your gmail account, which device does it show 'my installed apps' for?
Thinking about it.. when you order an app to be sent to your device on Play it does ask you which device its for.. so it remembers for all devices and shows a compilation?

Yes it does :cool:0 -
Every app that you have ever installed can be found in your google play store account.
When you go in the play store all the apps installed on that device are shown plus all the others that aren't installed but have been installed on ANY of your other devices.
Bear in mind not all apps will work on all devices0
