Competitions which expired yesterday can in no way be described as in urgent need of removal so they should not be constantly bumped to "please expire", this disrupts the flow of the board for people who use the board as it is laid out and is not necessary.

If they're over then there's no point leaving them just to build up to another day.

Unless you actively bump them and ask to expire them they get left until someone comes across them and thinks I'll click expire.

    Not enough do unfortunately.

And it leads to those who actively expire threads that are finished to have pages and pages.

I have no problem not helping out. I have plenty of other things I can do!

Expired button for urgent, a comp expiring yesterday is not and even when expired is appropriate that doesn't mean bumping it is.

For things like merges a couple of days is considered an acceptable time scale for BGs to deal with them. Expired competitions are far less urgent than merges so they are well within time for a BG bulk move.

Those who actively expire threads choose to do so and if you are expiring them it will take one less click for them to go but that doesn't mean yesterdays competitions should be bumped up the board today.

Ok guys, I need to know what to do about this one, because that's what I do sometimes, and I don't want to do the wrong thing. I only do it to help. TBH, my take is that it doesn't disrupt the board because when it gets bumped to say PPE, I am sure it very quickly moves to GO. This cuts down on the number needing to be expired later. I mean, once it's over, we want it gone, don't we? Apart from anything else, it's relevant info re the comp, as it saves people clicking on it to enter, and then finding it's finished. What's the diff with that and bumping to say the end date has changed, or whatever?

BUT, I will happily do what people think is best. Please discuss and decide. I will follow sheep-like on this one :D

    I go through the E: xx/xx Win
(whatever date) & click on expired on the listings (after checking the links to see if they're still live or not),
then go back to the listings after a while to see if any of them have been moved over, if after a reasonable time they still haven't had enough 'clicks' on only then do I 'bump' for the PPE.

Thanks Firefly, that wouldn't work for me, because I don't actively seek out comps to expire. But I am happy to just leave it to you guys if you think that's better.

I do the same, sometimes there might be a stray, say with wrongly formatted date which doesn't appear with the rest, then I would bump but only then.

If it has passed its closed date there is no need to be clicking on it at all, it only becomes a time waste when it gets bumped up the board and people click on it to see why.

If a competition has closed early (before the stated date, not sometime during the day that it closes) then bumping still doesn't really make a difference as it takes just the same number of people to look and then click expired but it might be more reasonable for those.
