Tax Credits Renewal

I received a letter today after returning the renewal form a couple of weeks back and it states that from Sept I will only have 2 qualifying cjhildren rather than 3. Now my eldest is leaving school after her gcses but she will be going to full time college in Sept. I told the CB people this in a form they sent me- which they totally ignored and told me that CB will stop in Sept for her- now the same with TC's
How do I convince them she is remaining in FT education?

Erm, I'm not 100% but I think it's CB that has to be reinstated first so get onto them then CTC will follow. Write them a letter stating which college she is attending and include any proof you may have like an acceptance letter. It sounds like an administration error (or rather input error!) that should hopefully be quickly resolved with a letter or two. Best wishes.0

This is normal and they expect you to call at the beginning of September to confirm that your daughter has remained in full-time non advanced education when you know for definite that she has been accepted by the school or college. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. You need to call Tax Credits to inform them that she will be staying in full Time Non Advanced Education (check which course(s) is is studying).0

Wont they have actually stopped the TC and CB by then though? Seems as though it will mess it up for a few weeks at least- can do without the hassle0 -
You can call TC anytime after about mid April (cant remember the exact date).
Dont know about CB, but I think you have to complete a form.0 -

They won't have stopped the TC because you will still have 2 qualifying children. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hello,
Just to clear up a few things from this thread:
If your child is staying on in FTNAE then you can report it from 1st August 2007 onwards. We cannot except changes too far in advance as your circumstances can change.
We cannot complete your renewal until you have had it issued to you (its like a trigger on the system, as soon as it is showing as issued we can then take your income details). They started issuing them out mid April and will contiinue through to mid June. Also, just so you know, the 1st specified date has been brought forward to 31st July 2007, so make sure you give at least an estimate by then else your claim will cease.
Also, if your ever unsure about your Tax Credits you should phone the helpline, it's open 7 days a week, 8am-8pm (which I think is pretty impressive).
Hope all this helps.

I'm assuming that you've spoken to them about it?

You can report it upto 138 days prior to the 1st of September following the child’s 16th birthday.
