Negotiating a lower contract - Orange
Options
When I took out my contract with Orange I was in a different situation and the £42 incl insurance wasn't an issue.
However my situation has changed and I may need to reduce my bills somehow. I have had this contract since Sept and it says I am not eligible for a best plan review yet.
I pay £31 for 600mins, unlim texts and 1000mb, insurance has just gone up to £8 a month. On Panther.
I know I could go on a much lower tariff as rarely use all my internet or minutes.
Has anyone successfully managed to reduce their mobile bills/tariff due to financial changes?
Any tips on how to do this?

No tips - they do not allow you to drop your tariff (not contact) during the minimum term. By all means ask, but don't be surprised if they say no.
The fact your circumstances change is not their concern - only yours. This is why a contract mobile is usually bad news, unless you are clairvoyant!0 -

I agree with this. Like I always say, it's certainly worth asking. There are no guarantees though.
Only suggestion i can offer is to check whether your phone would be covered on house/bank insurance if you have it. Then you could knock the Care on the head.0 -
afaik you can drop one taariff halfway through but not beforeWhat goes around-comes around0

If your that strapped for cash just drop the insurance , unless your an extra clumsy or forgetful person. There are sometimes so many exclusions that insurance can be a waste of money.0 -
Sell your expensive phone, buy a cheaper one that will do all the same and stop wasting money on insurance.0

I called them and they lowered mine from £36 to £26 a month without any changes to my allowances because my circumstances had changed so worth a shot and keep pushing for it. They had to go away and call me back a day or two later with me.
But they presumably started you on a new minimum term?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

I dropped from Panther 45 down to Raccoon 15 when I gave my second contract to my partner when his phone broke. This was at month 17 of my contract and upgrade date has been confirmed as 10 July. It definitely didn't start a new 24 month deal.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200
