:bdaycake:Happy birthday Camelot!
Morning all! Its wet and blowing a hoolie here, and have been round the house umpteen times as there was a burning smell, have discovered its blowing in the windows at the side of the house, think its coming from further down the road where the council are doing something to the roads, will investigate further when I manage to get dressed!
Not a lot planned today, its DS's friend's mums funeral this afternoon, not sure if he's going, I think the family were veering towards a private service because of the circumstances.
Oh well, better get dressed, its chilly in here and Ive been sitting on the lappy since I got out the shower! Have a good day all!RIP Iain

I'm feeling a bit smug, I've tidied the airing cupboard and changed our bed. I should do the children's beds too but they've only got one set each so I have to start those early in the morning so they're ready by bedtime. I should buy them another set each but I never get around to it.
I've just prepped all the meals for the next 4 days. My bag of spuds were all sprouting though so I've peeled and cut all those. I was going to freeze some to roast or mash later but I don't know whether to par boil them first. A month ago I would have thrown them out, this is all new to me.0 -
Hi all.
Hoppy Birdday Camelot.
Oh dear, I get later and later logging on.... just can't get going in the mornings; bathing and dressing really knocks the stuffing out of me these days. Still, I've done 30 minutes gentle WiiFit, hand-washed a top and kicked off some pizza dough in the BM, so I haven't been totally idle.
Hilly I could've cried in frustration for you when I read that you'd had another fall.:( I hope to goodness the OT can sort something out for you.
I have DWS - Dog Withdrawal Symptoms. I've been dogless for nearly a month, unless you count the BD, which is curled up on the sofa. I may start plotting to kidnap Skye.....:D
I need to get a bit ahead of myself with the week's cleaning, as I won't get any done on Wednesday; Mr LW has the day off on Annual Leave for Ostara, and he wants to visit Bletchley Park again; we have a year-long ticket, which will expire soon, and as Mary's arriving on Saturday, it'll be the last chance we get to go, as I can't leave Mary for any length of time.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Hi all - busy weekend so this is the first time I've been able to get online since Friday.
Friday night we went to the theatre to see a play called "What The Dickens?" by the Gonzo Moose Theatre Troupe - it was AMAZING!!! 3 actors playing more than 20 roles and moving the scenery around on stage during the performance to reflect the different venues. To add to the ingenuity of the whole thing, it was hilariously funny too! I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone.
Saturday was spent doing housework around the house and cooking a Chicken & Bacon pot pie for tea, with veg. I put washing on the line but it didn't dry so I had to plonk it in the dryer.
Yesterday I cooked a Sunday dinner of mince & dumplings with veg and potatoes. I also baked Butterscotch Walnut Cake, Sausage rolls, white bread and some fruit bread. Tried again to dry some washing outside but the heavens opened to they were rescued and put in the dryer too. I spent last night working on my crochet recycled carrier bag - I've nearly finished it now so I'll post a photo when it's complete.
Today's tea will be Sweet & Sour Chicken (haven't made Sweet & Sour Sauce in years so I'm hoping I can remember how). It will be a quick affair as I have an appointment to give blood at 6.10pm. I'm O- so I know I'm in demand.
Happy Birthday Camelot and I really hope you're feeling better soon Hilstep. xxLightbulb moment: -£9,954.31 Current Debt: £0

Hillstep,so sorry you've fallen again & hope the OT is of help.
I'm just having a breather from painting the conservatory, but the sun has come round that side now and it's pretty warm.Just got one wall left to do but its the biggest and high so will have to wait for DH to do that bit.
Got a chicken to cook for tea, apart from that not much OS going on today.Better pick my roller up again, take care all xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Mystery of the burning smell solved, they are burning off the old white lines and putting another mini roundabout at the end of the road!
Beef currently in oven as it was on offer at mr m's, and bottom of fridge turned into roasted red pepper and tomato soup, simmering away and will do for DD's lunch for a couple of days, if I don't scoff it, smells yummy!RIP Iain

Hello everybody and happy birthday Camelot! :bdaycake:
Cold here and now overcast although it was sunny before. Popped 'round to my neighbours to give them some empty jam jars before and I'm sure there was a bit of snow in the air..... This is the nice next door but one. Next door had a party on Saturday night - thanks goodness Spiral is subtitled.... at 2.00 a.m. he was putting stuff in his glass recycling, three times....Woke us both up..... and his bin was full on Sunday to overflowing with bin bags around - God help us when we go to fortnightly collections. He doesn't do it with me but the "jam jar neighbour" has watched him come up her path and fill her bin up! She's getting a lock :rotfl: Apart from that not much to report. Did some shopping on Saturday and hope we've got enough to last us the fornight..... we did roast pork yesterday which should have been enough for two meals... until Mr Rage started "nibbling"..... so it's salad tonight  I've had Slim Fast for lunch as I'd got some hanging around and need to show willing even if I've been on the wrong dose of the meds that are meant to help....... Got a fair bit of work for a Monday earlier and will be making soup out of the leftover veg from last night using a veggie stock from the freezer. Cleaned the little fridge out on Friday as well and over the weekend did all the washing.... it'll soon be back :rotfl: Just cleaned the big fridge out but it's meant to be frost free but is knackered so massive amounts of ice - Mr Rage is going to look at it but I rather fear we need a new one as the freezer only has the bottom half able to freezer stuff. Could do with it as well to batch cook
Ah well something else for the list to save up for. Right, off to do some admin and might have a go at the en suite.... then again might not....
Have a good day everyone!
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -
Tenyearstogo - I forgot to mention that if you want to freeze your potatoes you will need to at least par-boil (if not fully boil) them first. I once froze some raw potatoes and they looked fine....until I tried to defrost them. The more they thawed, the blacker they went and they oozed black gloop all over the worktop. I was left with a jet-black gloopy mound - it was like a horror movie excerpt!Lightbulb moment: -£9,954.31 Current Debt: £0

Well out of the blue i decided to go to the cemetery to remove the flowers hubby put on his Mothers plot on Mothers day. I had a word with the guy in the office about having his Mothers lettering redone as hubby said on Mothers day how shabby it was looking The man gave me a list of phone numbers of stonemasons who do work in the cemetery or he said we could always do it ourselves..... so rang hubby who thought it was a great idea, i then wandered over to see his sister who thought we were mad but gave her permission to lift the stone slab where their Mothers ashes are kept (its in her name). So on my kitchen table i have hubbys Mothers plaque thingy (anyone know what they are called?).
Hubby will be attempting to re colour the stone lettering the weekend. If, after doing it it looks a mess we can then pass it on to the stonemasons to fix it. If it looks ok hubby will have saved himself £50 and i'm sure his Mother would have prefered him to have spent the time doing it himself.
I got home just before it started to rain and started my quiche. I had some frozen pastry in my freezer and left it to defrost whilst i was out... So come home, roll the pastry and then discover its sweet pastry. I made an apple pie a few weeks ago and stuck the leftover pastry in the freezer. Pity i didnt remember this when i took it out of the freezer this morning. Anyone had a quiche made of sweet pastry?Youngest thinks its going to be a hit with him so ive done it for him. I'll probably have a plate of chips lol.
