taking a break from comping

I've found that keeping up with comps is taking less time now that I can't get back into Facebook (STILL can't pass the verification!)
So, as someone suggested, cutting out one group of comps might take the pressure off if you find that a complete break makes you feel more pressured about what you're missing out on .... !Best win ever: Trip to the Galapagos Islands in 20100 -
Definately feeling like taking a break. Need an odd win, however small, to keep the enthusiam up for a couple of hours a day comping and keep the fun in it. BUT I've had nothing at all for about 4 months and next to nothing for 16 months.
I do only enter for prizes that I or close family would like, but thats still hundreds per week.2018 wins : kids tennis set (WOW!)2019 wins - Thank God for TCB - a 10p and a 20p win 2020 - Bettys hamper - very nice, a notebook 2021 - £100 Jacks voucher (Jan)2022 - Bottle of Kiss ginMany many thousands of Twitter and IG entries without a sniff of a prize 2023 NOTHING b]Now well over 2.5 years without any win0 -
I think that if you have a complete break, you do need something to fill the time that you would otherwise have spent comping, otherwise you will find you look at the boards because you are bored. So make sure you have a plan of things that you will do before you comp again. What that is, only you can decide, but it may be that you set yourself a plan of say redecorating your bedroom and reading six books, or say learning a language, or knitting a jumper. Whatever you do, I hope you enjoy your break and thank you for all you have contributed.0

I think that everyone can use a break sometimes.
I took a break for about 2 weeks (I didn't last very long). It wasn't by choice really as it was through illness. To be honest, one of the reasons I comp is because I'm housebound alot and sometimes don't go out for a couple of weeks. I have my little boy and my lovely hubby but comping keeps me 'sane' so I came back to it as an 'outlet'.:rotfl::p
I think that once you start not finding it fun anymore and neglect your everyday life, then maybe taking a break is a good idea.2019 Wins

As a fairly new comper (started comping July/Aug last year) - I find this thread really interesting. I have never really entered the dailies as I'm an end date comper - today I have entered all the comps that end tomorrow. I have done one or two of the daily entries, but certainly not every day; in fact if I get 6 entries in, it's a miracle. It certainly is difficult to get the balance right - I spend at least a couple of hours daily doing the comps and do get stressed if I think I might miss a day, but then I have had some great prizes so far. I am quite selective over what I enter - only books or DVDs I would really like (and I don't watch many films)! So, although I feel it takes over my life a little, I'm sure I could easily spend hours more if I was to enter every competition and then do the dailies.
Tinks, I really appreciate you posting, as I do all those who regularly post. I have posted a few competitions, but usually find I have been beaten to it by someone else. Maybe set yourself a goal of winning a specific prize for a while and only enter those that are for that prize - that would considerably cut down time spent on comping, but you would still be in with a chance of winning a good prize?
The main reason I started is I have a back problem and, whereas I used to enjoy walking my dog, cannot currently walk very far, so it gives me something to do during the evening. However, I don't intend comping if I go away and have missed the odd day or two.
Good luck Tink whatever you decide to do xSeptember Wins : One Direction posters, Kappa Football.
Thank you to all the lovely posters & board guides :beer:0 -

I havent comped for about 2 weeks I only started early Jan and still took a break I think its because I am despondant with my sole win of a danepak fridge magnet... I'm really happy for people who win after 2 weeks etc but I also wonder if I am just not lucky enough, gonna have a dabble today intend on entering about 150 and see if anything comes from it x2013- Danepak Fridge magnet :rotfl::rotfl:0

This time last year I took a few months off felt I needed to, and this year I feel the same have hardly done any for about 6 weeks. I think it's the time of year I'm so tired and those evenings spent on the computer I feel like I just want to sleep. Although am not liking the rubbish post and no exciting phone calls. When comping becomes a chore there is no enjoyment it's time to give it a rest til you feel it again0

Just when I was enjoying not having to rush to get up in the mornings to post the mag dailies (with tinks posting them up)
I say, enjoy your break Tinks, and hopefully in the meantime some other posters will step up to the plate and help us out, or we need to seriously look at how we post these mag dailiesThey take such a long time to post all of them up, with lots of the comps being across several of the mags. I've got holidays coming up in the near future, so I won't be around
Have a great break Tinks, enjoy other pleasures, kick back, and but most importantly, be happy whatever you do :kisses3:#StaySafeWishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year0 -
Good luck with the break, hope you get destressed and have a good time doing your other hobbies. Thank you so much for all the comps you have posted, you're a star.
Ive been considering taking a break from comping as I found I was getting stressed about finding the time to enter them, now if I dont have time to enter I dont get stressed. Although I must be weird as its the dailies I make sure I do before any others. Im an end date comper and if I miss a days comps then I figure I probably wont have won them anyway plus if I dont know about them then I dont know what Im potentially missing out on.
Although this week Ive had two "freebies" come my way. I say freebies as I haven't classed them in the same way I do comps. Im on another website (its not a comping one) who often ask for volunteers for product tests or they might have a random prize draw. As it turns out I am waiting for a Karcher Steam Cleaner and £200 Love To Shop vouchers. This made me want to comp properly again, but today during comping I wasn't finding it fun.
Although I do like doing the mag dailies, but Im a bit fed up of general comps. Ive only ever entered for things I want too.Current Aims: Laptop/PC, decent money, holiday
Best Wins: Ipad, Nintendo 3DS, £400 Shopping Spree at LK Bennett, £100 Boots vouchers
Total Wins (Since April 2012) £3442.56
Big thanks to all who post comps :T:beer:0
