Hi,
can anyone tell me how you know what speed you are getting. I am intrigued to know what i get from my BT broadband for general surfing (not downloading). It seems as slow as dial up to me?
Thanks,
Jo0 -
Hi,
I am on BT broadband - basic package which I think it supposed to be up to 8mb. I just ran a test and my download speed is 745kb. What is that all about?? I don't have the home hub - is that why?? This seems slowwwwwwww! Any ideas appreciated!0 -
Don't bother with Sky. I decided to change to their inclusive package, [tv, phone & Broadband] and I've had nothing but problems, so I've cancelled this morning.0

I was with Orange too.. and was very disappointed with their service and speed. I changed to sky max at £10 a month and have to say the whole thing was trouble free. It took 10 days and three phone calls to orange to get my mac code but once i had it and placed my order with Sky it was very smooth. Three working days later the Sky box arrived (actually they sent two) The next day i got a confirmation letter giving me my activation date. On the date itself my broadband went off at lunchtime, i plugged in the new sky box and downloaded the software and five minutes later i was up and running. I havent had any disruption in service and i have been with them just over a month now. I have tested my speed a few times and it always shows around 8 megs so i'm very happy.
hope that helps0 -

Hi samplerfan I think I will change to Sky too its getting worse with Orange.
Were you able to get your Mac code ok, I am hearing about problems getting this out of Orange?
Do you know does the code expire after a while, I think I heard it does but can't remember the details?
Also what happened about your email address, do you lose the old one and get new with Sky?0 -
hi, I am also a disillusioned former Wanadoo customer, now Orange and I have had loads of problems. I was getting thrown off the internet about every 15-20 minutes, every evening I tried to use it, for a period of (in the end) almost 2 months. Often I couldn't get back on at all that day and had to try again the next day. Finally, after multiple frustrating calls over several weeks to customer support, they did a line check and fixed the problem.
Then I started having major email problems (I have a wanadoo address). It keeps telling me my username/password is not recognised and it is very hit and miss whether I a)get in or b)can actually read anything once I get in. I have complained about 5 times so far and just been told they know some customers are having problems and would I be patient while they try to fix it. My email address is now virtually unusable.
Thanks for all the advice on this post, I am going to check my contract as I can't remember how long I've had it - and then change!!0
