  • Hi,

chill folks, you all seem to know it's not due until tomorrow, but just used to getting it early, did y'all complain when you got paid early?

Everything comes to those who wait.

It's the crazy insecure feeling world we live in now. Constant feeling of dread and uncertainty. When my money was not in there at the usual time I felt the world was crashing down. This is how life makes me feel.

I hope you've all contacted Halifax to request an interest payment for the 1.5 hours you were without the money and a possible goodwill payment for the stress incurred..... ;)

Yes, I'm asking them for the modest sum of £2,500 as a gesture of goodwill :D

I'm living hand to mouth and see no way out. All quite grim. But at least I'm not starving to death or battling disease yet.

Not many companies still use the old style BACS anymore.

Source? I work for a major UK clearing bank and can tell you that BACS is still far and away the King of UK payments.

Nearly every organisation (other than tiny SMEs) uses BACS for processing payroll/pension/supplier payments. The average BACS payment costs 2-10p, the average FPS payment 20-50p. The DWP, too, use BACS for all benefit payments and have no designs to change.

Other than a very few instances (e.g. pay day loan companies) there is simply no business case that justifies the extra expense of a FPS payment.

I process around 35,000 payments through BACS a week?!
