Upgrading with O2 online

i have just realised i have been able to upgrade for a week, but they are not offering me very good deals to stay with them cos i've only been paying £14 a month (had £5 off a £19 per month contract) for last 12 months. the contract i am currently on is an older one called online 50 with 50 cross network minutes and 500 free texts.

i don't use my mobile that much because i use my home phone a lot of the time. i think i send about 5-6 texts per day on average so need about 150-200 per month and about an hour of calls

yesterday i was offered a pink nokia 7373 that looks really tacky and like it would break after 5 minutes use or a SE Z710 for free, or £100 credit. yay.

last night i had a look on their website, they are offering better phones than the above to new customers but their 12 months tariffs are rubbish now, i only want to spend £20 max but all you get is 25 mins and 100 texts! or for £25 per month you get 100 mins and 200 texts which would do but don't want to spend that much. and i'm not going on an 18 month, so decided i was going to have my number changed to a pay as you go sim and top up £10 per month whenever i needed to and get 300 free texts and use the £10 towards calls

today i phoned and they said i can stay on the £19 per month tariff with 50 mins and 500 texts and i can have a nokia n73 for free, but they do the nokia n73 for free on all tariffs on their website to new customers so didn't really feel that was a good deal considering i have been with them for over 5 years

was thinking i could sell the n73 for £160+ and then it will only cost me £68 or less for a 12 month contract

but then if i go on pay as you go i might only need to top up £10 once every 2 or 3 months so that might only cost me £40-£60 for the year

i'm not bothered about having a posh phone, i have a pink lg chocolate at the mo but the battery is rubbish and it's annoying me so i will probably sell it as i just want a cheap sim free/pay as you go nokia. its the cost per month or per year that i am trying to get as cheap as possible.

any other suggestions? what have o2 been offering lately to keep people from cancelling? should i try for a better/more expensive phone (to sell)? or a discount off the line rental?

ive just left 02 after 4 years, they didnt want to offer me much either, know a few people in same situation, seems like they want rid of the older contracts.

ive went to 3's £15 for life deal, 75 minutes, 600 texts.

paid 49.99 for the sony ericson 850i but went via quidco to get £70 cashback.

dont use the phone to much and im to lazy to chase up cashback deals do this is just right for me. the £15 a month will cover all my needs

i've been with them o2 for 7 years, currently paying £15 a month for 200 mins and 500 texts. i've rung them several times in the last fortnight, and been offered different things each time. I rang again as i'd decided what i actually wanted. they have offered sony k800i, 500 mins and 250 texts for £30 a month on an 18 month contract. HA HA HA!! just received my PAC code thru email. better deals on dialaphone.
  • Why dont u try an O2 Genie sim card...

You top up £10 p/month (PAYG so no contract) and get 300 free txts and then use the £10 a month for calls (alternatively u cud pay £15 for 500txts if u wanted). Bearing in mind the call rates are reduced to 5p/min after first 3mins to other O2 customers+landlines, I can honestly say ive never used the full £10 a month on calls (and im not that tight with calls either lol). Also once uve bin a customer for 6months you receive 'O2 Treats' for doing nothing basically lol...which are things like free calltime etc (i currently get 15mins free a month which is fine 4me).

This SIM wud be ideal for ne1 who's happy with their fone and jus wants to wack a new SIM in.
