The issue is changing employers view points not the criteria for being completely unable to work. Flexible, home working, better working conditions, better training for colleagues and others are what is truly needed.

I would fear that the above would put disability rights back years as employers would not need to even try to accommodate and there would be less disabled working, therefore more stigma,

I am not a supporter of the current descriptors but equally not convinced that this is the way to resolve those issues. I need at present 2 days a week for appointments so I lowered my hours and work around them, so part time is viable, full time is not. I have an employer who permitted this.
Tomorrow is the most important thing in life
  • I am coming around to your way of thinking bloo. It would help people who are currently in work as well, so much more likely to garner support as well as having far wider reaching positive effects.

If anyone is involved in a campaign along these lines, or has idea for starting one, let me know!

I'm not sure it's a new support Group descriptor that's needed . Having briefly compared a relatives IB medical form from 2009 the physical side questions at least don't look that different to the ESA form.

Or at least not so radically different to explain the number of people failing assessments now who go on to have the decision over turned at Tribunal. .

Which makes me think the problem lies somewhere in how these assessments are carried out. Be it the tick box computer logic system , which seems to make outcome decisions and poorly trained assessors.

If the descriptors remained the same, but only doctors could carry out assessments , and they couldn't use this computer system, in any shape or form, but only their own judgement maybe the decisions would be more accurate and accepted as credible.? .
