We have used them twice or maybe three times we got a great deal on hotels and flights and I would recommend them in fact I did to DD who also got a good deal. They are what used to be called a bucket shop I think, they buy up unused rooms and flights and sell them at minimum prices...

One of the hotels we paid £80 for the two of us for a room for a week the rack rate was 80 euros a night so we did save a lot there.

I've used them once - never again!!!!

A couple of years back we (my wife and myself) spent a week in 4 cities in Italy, using TravelRepublic for 3 out of the 4 hotels we stayed in. The bookings were made many weeks in advance, and we had emails from them a few days after booking to say our bookings were confirmed - meaningless as it later turned out.

The last hotel booked was a very nice, but very expensive Best Western in Venice.

All was well at the first hotel. While staying at the hotel we'd not booked through TR we had the luxury of free internet. I checked my emails and found TR had emailed us to say their "accommodation provider" was unable to confirm our booking for the Venice hotel, and offering an alternative AT THE SAME PRICE. This email had been sent after we'd left the UK, a few days before we were due in Venice.

The alternative hotel had only a few reviews, all bad, but with limited time and internet access, and with everything else in Venice being booked up, we had little choice but to accept.

On getting to the alternate Venice hotel, it was truly awful - room in a poor state of repair, peeling wallpaper, lights and taps not working, exposed wiring, poor breakfast, etc, etc. Even at Venice prices it was worth half what we'd paid, if that. Definitely deserved its poor reviews

I did complain bitterly to Travel Republic. After a while I got a response back that they would refer my concerns back to their accommodation provider. Weeks after that, a letter to say that their accommodation provider had provided accommodation - end of, nothing more to say.

    I'd never go back.

every company is going to have the occasional problem and you are always going to get some folk who post terrible reviews.
Ive booked hotels with both Travel Republic + Low cost Holidays and many others without any problems. On the Beach have just been slightly more expensive, so Ive not used them.

I always use the same criteria. WHO EVER IS CHEAPEST for my chosen hotel.
Most of them get their rooms from the same bed bank or local agent anyway.

    Flights I just book direct
    Transfers I use https://www.airporttransfers.co.uk

That much is true, but on later reading more about TravelRepublic, I found my situation was by no means "occasional". And their distinctively dismissive "pass the buck" response does not encourage repeat business.

Unfortunately, OP, as I'm not a frequent traveller, I haven't got any strong recommendations for you - though we've had no problems with LastMinute to date.
  • My experience with TR as posted previously:

I have no experience of Travel Republics customer service. I did, however, get a fantastic online deal for the Swan and Dolphin Resort (Swan) at Disneyworld Florida.

The price was so good I fully expected a problem on arrival, but in fact the receptionist announced there was a note on the reservation which instructed her that as a "preferred partner guest" she was to waive the daily resort fee, give us a discount voucher booklet for the resort restaurants/ shops/ bars and she offered us an upgrade to an Epcot view room for just $10 a night extra!

I was flabbergasted. My only experience of Travel Republic, but couldn't have asked for more!

Did wonder if it was all a mistake though!
