Co-operative raising prices for new joiners
Options
Apologies if this has already been posted but couldn't find anything,
I switched from nPower to Co-op, looking to save around 8%. However Co-op have sent me a letter saying that they are raising prices by 9% for new customers with effect from 20 February...about 5 days after our switch went live!
Where do I stand on this? Do I just take the hit and move to a new supplier? Am completely stumped!

If you signed up before the price rise date of Feb 20 then you will be on the pre-rise prices.
If you applied after Feb 20 then you will pay the new prices.0 -
Sounds like a blanket mailshot from the Co-op instead - if the price rise doesn't affect people like the OP, then they (Co-op) should have ensured that the letter made that clear.0

The price was was effective for new applicants from 12 February 2013 (not the 20th)

Existing customers were only promised a price freeze until 15 April 2013, so expect a letter giving you a month's notice of a price rise anytime soon.
That will be the time to check the comparison sites again0 -
So as long as I signed up before the 12th I'm ok then (signed up in Jan). Really badly worded letter. Thanks all. May phone them to confirm anyway0
