Thanks for the update, Lesson - especially when you have had so much else on your mind. That does all sound very positive regarding your DH - it does make a change to hear good things about the NHS and I sincerely hope the drug trial is a success.
When we were looking to move in 2011 we came across a very nice house that was being sold via the *modern auction* method and having investigated what this entailed, we too discounted it immediately.
As you, above all people will know, something will come along that's perfect - both for DS 1 & 2 and for you!
Sending positive vibes your way........Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

OK - we are back in the groove.
The two bungalows viewed recently didn't quite fit the bill, so have another viewing booked for Friday.
The, a viewing for the boys on Saturday.
Hey ho - we'll get there - eventually.
One thing that really frustrates me is the length of time taken to get a viewing. Does it really need to take an average of a week to obtain an appt to view.:(0 -

The longest I have had to wait for a viewing was 10 days. Usually arranged within a couple of days though, so we are luckier here atm. A lot of our viewings are for bungalows though, vendors are often retired and tend to do the viewings themselves.
Finding suitable properties to view is the real problem - a couple of local EA's have commented that the difficulty is under supply - they have the buyers but not enough properties are being put on the market. Since the beginning of April I have been keeping a note of the daily number of RM listings in my search area (and the proportion of those which are reductions) and the number of new daily listings are surprisingly consistent. I had expected it to pick up this month (but the weather has taken a downturn again)
Any news on the new treatment for your OH?It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

An update.
Yesterday viewed a bungalow for me. The Vendor has a blimmin cheek, filthy overpriced hovel - obviously lives in cloud cuckoo land.
Apparently it is "priced for a quick sale" :rotfl::rotfl:
It's a probate house and I wasn't expecting much but even so the price is way out.......
The guy who showed me round was a total waste of space, with a cold sweaty limp handshake - ugh!!
If you are going to shake my hand - do it properly .......A nice firm warm handshake if you please, not a half hearted effort. If you don't want to shake hands then don't....
The EA has left a message for me - I'll have a chat on Monday and see how intractable the vendor is.
Viewed a nice diamond in the rough for the boys today. A lovely little fixer upper in a great location. Worst house - best street......West facing garden. Perfick.;)
The EA was great, chatty, friendly, pro-active and a veritable fount of all knowledge. A pleasure.
Going to put an offer in on Monday. It's a repo and is priced very fairly so we'll go in at the full asking price for this one and hope that will be enough to secure it.
The boys are in a good position, AIP in place, solicitor primed and ready to go. Hopefully that will swing it for them. I don't really fancy a bidding war.
We even met the next door neighbour, nice guy. Fingers crossed.0 -
Still on our quest.
The repo didn't go well.
We offered the full asking price but the lender insisted on keeping it on the market. I'm not prepared to get into a bidding war and risk losing over £1k in abortive costs so we withdrew.
Viewed 4 properties last Saturday for the boys, another 4 booked for this Saturday. Nearly there.
We have refined our search area, decided which streets we like the best and by Saturday will have viewed everything that's on the market.
The thing that is most frustrating is just how long it's taking to get viewings.
Admittedly most of the properties are empty and therefore we are at the mercy of when the EA can fit us in. The odd Sunday morning viewing but for most it is either a week day during the day which my boys cannot manage or Saturday.
Come on EA's. Most people work during the day. What is wrong with the evening - nice light evenings now, no excuse. How about Sunday afternoons. Do you want the commission or not. :rotfl:
A little newsflash re my OH.
He has now started his drug trial. Today he wiggled his little finger on his left hand. :j:j It has been stuck in a bent position for several weeks and it couldn't move. Today there is movement.
Plus I have been able to decipher a few words.
I cannot say how lovely it is to hear his voice again and to actually be able to understand the odd few words.
I know I mustn't get carried away and build up my hopes just yet, however the eternal optimist in me says it's a start.
Onwards and upwards.....:D0 -
Wonderful news LL , fingers crossed the improvement continues!Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

Great news re your OH. So pleased to hear there is improvement. When functioning is so limited even a small change for the better can make such a difference to quality of life.
Hope things pick up for you on the house hunting front too. We are not having problems arranging viewings, just problems finding suitable properties to view. Its exhausting. But as you say 'onwards and upwards':D
