Not wishing to sound OCD but found this picture of JK growing up through the floor in a newly built house from an article in the DM in 2011 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2052337/Hertfordshire-couple-demolish-300k-home-rid-Japanese-knotweed.html

I too would run as fast as my little legs would go!

Nice one. Thought my little jokes and puns were bad. ;)
  • Ah Lesson, what a shame for you and your DSs. Still, things often happen for a reason, so there must be a better house out there for you. :)

    Yes - here's hoping.

Actually my head is in a whirl.

I've just had the most extra-ordinary telephone call from my husband's consultant. 7-0pm on a Friday night!!!

They rang me last week and asked if he "wanted another brain biopsy" - yes like he wants a hole in the head. Ha. Ha. I said no he is far too weak to withstand further surgery.

Anyway back comes the consultant tonight - would we like to try some wonder drug or other.

Would we, well what does he think.

Here we go again. Trying not to get my hopes up too much - we've been here before and been disappointed.

Consultant seems to think that said wonder drug might mean that OH will then be well enough for surgery in the future.

Like I said - my head is spinning......

Anyway yes back to the house search. Yes I'm sure there will be something out there......

Do hope that the new therapy is effective for your husband. I seem to recall he has a devasting neurological illness, so it is excellent news that his medical team are exploring all possible avenues.

    Well what a week!!!!

All house hunting has been on the back burner.

OH had an urgent MRI scan on Wednesday plus I've just finished filling out and signing consent forms for OH's new drug trial. They are hoping to order them today.

Now I know the NHS comes in for a lot of stick but wow - this week has been impressive. The consultant has spoken and he has had everyone running around doing his bidding. Great stuff.

OK so it's all highly experimental with all the attendent dangers that experimental medicine carries but a slim chance is infinitely better than no chance.

Anyway back to the house hunting.

DS2 spotted something he fancied and we made an appt to view. I then found out it was subject to a "Modern Auction". No chance. I wouldn't touch a MA with a bargepole so I've cancelled that viewing.

DS1 spent the evening here yesterday (for a good home cooked meal:rotfl:) and we trawled through RM. Found a few possibles, so he is going to do a few drivebys and draw up a shortlist for me to view.

I have finally started thinking about my own purchase and have a couple of possibles lined up for viewing tomorrow. A couple of bungalows.

I need either a bungalow or a house suitable to convert to add a downstairs bathroom and bedroom so that we can bring OH home again.

I think one of them might fit the bill, because it has the potential to build an extension - wheelchairs, hospital beds etc take up a lot of room.........:(

    Lesson,
Thanks for the update, especially with all you're dealing with at the moment. I really hope that the new drug trial is successful and you can find the right house so you can bring your OH home again. It makes my own house selling/buying efforts seem a doddle!

Great news the consultant has got the wheels in motion regarding your husband's trial, i really hope that goes well.
Fab that you & your son are both still on the look out for property too, i think a bungalow sounds perfect and hope there's potential in what you see tomorrow .... Please let us know how you get on, when time permits :)
