How reliable & trustworthy is Barclays PPI Prequal (SAR)

As far as I understand it Prequal is the same system a lot of case handlers at Barclays use to determine the existance of PPI. Basically if it says "U" or "Y" they investigate further, "N" they can't as there's nothing they'd be able to use to find a PPI policy. Is it 100% accurate? No, but nothing looking back that far into history is ever going to be. Is it a deliberate attempt to fob off genuine complaints? Again, no, it's one of those things they had to put in retrospectively to streamline processes and dig out from the mountain of (often false) PPI claims they are buried under so understandably it isn't pretty.
Yes, you can ring BID on that number if you want to. They sometimes hold more historical records than either Barclays or Barclaycard when it comes to insurance.0
