Ok, well that is the forum's template letter that I used and was included
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1475553So effectively they've been paid and not carried out the full job. From reading my other loan agreements there is no reference to any type of insurance so will requesting a copy be of any use ? Would it show in a loanagreement if ppi was taken out ?
Also, are you sure your Mother isn't mistaken in her assertion that she was mis-sold PPI?
The loan was arranged more than twenty years ago, no?0 -
Moneyineptitude wrote: »That's an excellent template which covers all the bases to prevent misunderstanding of what you actually want. However, the instruction you highlighted is by no means a legal entitlement and it's certainly not something I'd personally include (or expect) in any SAR letter I might send.
Why don't you simply ask the Bank directly whether PPI was applied to the loan in question? Don't you trust the Bank to answer accurately?
Also, are you sure your Mother isn't mistaken in her assertion that she was mis-sold PPI?

I have little reasons to trust them, yes why should I ? They've widely mis-sold insurance that was unsuitable and of no use to millions. Then was up in the high courts amongst other big banks fighting to not have to redress and pay any of it back. I suspect they're among the many who are calling for a deadline on reclaiming. Also they don't appear to have been very compliant with agreements with FSA to invite people via letter who have possibly been mis-sold that they can complain.
Arranged more than 20 years ago ? No it would be 16 years ago and she is certain that they always insisted their payment protection insurance was taken out along side with the loan which comes as a surprise that it only shows an unconfirmed possibility that it might or might not be present on 1 loan only against 5 other loans..0 -
Put your righteous indignation away before you blow a gasket.
Ask yourself this.
If the bank no longer has records to show PPI was applied, how are YOU going to prove there was?Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

That is what I'm trying to find out, they've sent me no loan agreement paper work and the historic book of bank statements goes back to 1998 the loan finished in mid 1999.
I get the impression the both of you are trying to question the sincerity of this complaint. I made it a point to question Barclay's due to their PPI & Libor rigging scandals.. They've abused their position of trust so why should I trust them.
What I don't wish to happen is to call Barclay's PPI number to question if PPI was present and they give it a very brief look and if no PPI is found they update their records and it negatively effects future complaint which should be a more thorough investigation.
My mum plans to go down to the local branch so will question it while their but again I don't want them hi-jacking control and doing things to their best interest and not mine.
@Moneyineptitude - Not sure why you've given thanks and support to his statement.0 -

I'm not doubting the sincerity of your "complaint", but if the Bank no longer has records and your Mother has no proof of her own then it is dead in the water.0 -

That's not necessarily true as there has been cases with insufficient information that have gone on to successfully claim back their money.
I suspect that this Pre-Qual - PPI table of information is not accurately solid and serves as a base guide only. Clearly didn't spend much time or effort as they didn't run a manual search to check if the unconfirmed PPI on a Barclayloan was present or not.
How do I know if their systems are adquetly up to date and are capable of performing an accurate in depth search when they've already told me it can't search across a small number of products ?
It may be the case if the system search can not identify or "flag" if PPI was present it simply marks it as 'N' for no rather then requiring an in depth search to be performed to double check or cross reference with other documents if PPI was present.0 -
Swiftkidd, do you have a 'Suggested BID policies' section at the end of your Pre-Qual? As I said earlier, the loans showed up with a 'U' in the PPI flag column on my Pre-Qual (page 2). But on the final page, in the 'Suggested BID policies' section, it gave a policy number [different to the account number] and policy start and end dates. It seemed to me that some quirk in the system was causing some loans to come up as 'U' even when the PPI had been identified - how else would the policy details be there?
If you have the policy number on the Pre-Qual, that should be enough for the complaint form. They don't seem to have had any trouble finding the details of our premiums paid after that. Our older loan dated from January 1999.PPI on Natwest loan, Barclayloan, MBNA credit card, and Mortgagecare all repaid just for asking in 2012/2013!
Barclaycard - PPI refund refused 26/01/13, ombudsman upheld 12 May 2014, Barclays resisted until March 2015 - FOS say Barclays are calculating an offer, they have 8 weeks.0 -

Hi,
I cannot see anything in reference to BID policies but in the product code column it says 'Barclayloan protected' other then that it just shows account number, sort code, account open date, account close date and account ppi flag 'U' mine happens to be on page 2 also.
There is 5 loans listed on the pre-qual-ppi and they've provided all the loan agreements attached with loan settlement statements except for the one that has unconfirmed ppi. They just sent me the loan settlement agreement without the loan agreement it self so I have no policy number and on the bank statements it lists all the repayments but the only reference it gives is
Barclayloan
<Account number> Payment
I'm thinking of the best way to proceed without harming the case.. Will also proceed with the Barclaycard Visa but it doesn't even date when it was closed and I have little no paperwork included in the SAR
Edit: I'm in the United Kingdom can I call this number: 0500 500 700. ? It Barclays insurance dublin and people have said it's been useful for getting information0
