Another vote for Altec Lansing I have the 221 (with Sub).
But the Altec Lansing VS2121 might be worth a look around the £20 mark. Personally I like the sub.0 -

I'm not familiar with pc speaker systems, but I'm familiar with EMU who make high end studio rec equipment.
They are the same company as creative & I bought a pair £5 pc speakers from ebuyer for someone and wasn't suprised when the quality was good.0 -

for £6 or £10 you can't neat these for portability or value. Surprisingly loud sound for the size.

I agree with the Altec suggestions got some 221s myself nice bit of bass from the sub
