The overall opinion of the property said:
Whilst a number of wants of repair and other issues were identified during the course of the inspection, generally this is a well maintained and presented property which is considered to represent a reasonable prospect for purchase at the agreed purchase price.

Look - if you want to waste your money jet washing a sewer, go ahead. You could even get an Eastern European (apologies for political incorrectness) to go down there with some polish (POLISH I said, not 'Polish') and buff the sides of the sewer so they sparkle!Ciderarmy1987 wrote: »What about the other points raised then? With the drains who would be responsible for getting them jet washed before completion? is that a cost us or the vendor would normally be expected to pick up?
But if you think the seller will contribute to the cost... :rotfl:0 -

So you don't think that it is worth acting on the advice in the report? (genuine not sarcastic question)Now buying our second house:

Did he note the number of external walls in the property was greater than 3? If he did then he's probably one of the best qualified ones....0

If the drain was actually blocked, it would need unblocking.Ciderarmy1987 wrote: »So you don't think that it is worth acting on the advice in the report? (genuine not sarcastic question)
The report said:
so there is a bit of gunk down there (it's a sewer for goodness sake - of course there's gunk, whether food, nappies, crap or whatever).evidences a build-up of deposits on the channel walls and the drain was backing up slightly here.
If a nappy or similar stops in the drain, the liquid will "back up slightly". Once there's a good flow (flush the loo, or run the washing machine) the nappy will get moved further down the drain.0 -
SO G_M am I right in thinking your thoughts are that there is absolutely nothing for us to worry about
What sort of things in a homebuyers report would concern you?Now buying our second house:

All minor stuff.
Concern would be cracking, evidence of subsidence or heave, bowing external walls, rotten timbers, evidence of dry or wet rot, incomptent DIY work, electrical and gas fittings which are obviously well past their prime.0 -
Think the report is pretty much the best we could have got then. Considering we are buying a house that is over 100 years oldNow buying our second house:
