Comic Relief - What happened....

Apparently the Lily Allen pig slaughter has put a lot of people off from donating.
The whole thing is looking a little old and sad this year.0 -
I tend to just switch channel when all of the depressing stuff comes on and watch the funny stuff and sketches, but most of it isn't very funny this year.
I only have it on in the background because I wanted to watch 'the office' special. Best bit of a bad bunch, though obviously not on par with the real office episodes.0 -

Plenty of other ways of giving.
Keep up.0 -
It overstepped the mark with some of the stuff before the watershed. Just a bunch of comics being smartarze and up themselves. If Rowan Atkinson had substitued Mohammed for Jesus in his shagging crack all hell would have broken loose. The BBC needs to get a grip..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
I thought it was inappropriate language before the watershed. My 8 yr old was watching and I couldn;t believe the shagging comment. I am not old fashioned but feel there are loads of kids watching and donating pocket money. This should have been checked before being screened. I feel the BBC will have lots of complaints.
Such a shame as it is a worth cause.
Will probably get slammed for my comments but disappointed.:([SIZE=2]SPC4 #1395 Aug 11 £135.75/£150

As much as I have sympathy with the causes mentioned, if any of us were to give a minimum of £2 per month to all the charities that advertise or have fund raising days we would all be needing charity ourselves.
I resent being shown pictures of dying African children in such awful conditions when this Country gives a massive £10bn each year in foreign aid, which equates to around £135 per person per year, so where does all that go, and still we are asked to give more.
Sadly I believe that the governments of these third world countries are creaming the money off the top to give their politicians a very nice life style. Cynical I know, but we all know what governments are capable of.0 -

I am perfectly aware of that thank you. I was stating a fact. Last year the text was £5, this year it is £10.
Sorry if that offends you. I really can't see the problem in me pointing it out. Obviously you can.0 -

The same thing happen for Children in Need and possibly Sport Relief last year too. They promote both the £5 and the £10 numbers in the run up to the night but then only promote the £10 one on the night. I'm sure a lot of work has gone into it to work out what increases donations.0 -

I fully agree. This country gives more in foreign aid to some country, than they give to another country.
The 'charity', always shows Africa, but most of what I hear of Africa, is that dictators run their own part of the country, the rest of the 'charity' money is creamed off to the organisations running these events, as has been proven.
I used to work for a charity, unpaid, and 90% of what is given, in good faith is creamed off by Management, and paid staff.
Disgusting. The rest probably by our Government.0 -

In fairness giving foreign aid to these countries is the least we can do considering most of them we had previously colonised, exploited and in many cases ruined. Britain is very unpopular in alot of these former colonies so giving aid helps to improve the countries image. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
