I think we do need to know what type of "Apprenticeship" it is. I am a school governor and we employ an "Apprentice" in our school office on the wage recommended (a pittance) after the twelve month period we are under no obligation to offer a job, indeed many on the Finance committee see this as a cheap labour exercise with the sole benefit for the apprentice of giving them a longer form of work experience . After the twelve months the young person will be back looking for a job, with no additional qualifications simply the "experience"
You have to know what the end game is and how that will lift you, or otherwise, out of the crowd when applying for jobs in the field.
I would definitely approach the college and ask about ways of taking the job and finishing the qual.0 -
I have 3 students who finish their college course at the end of June. They work from home in their own time on their assignments and have done so since October last year. I do email tutorials with them. 2 do this bcos they got jobs they didn't want to turn down and 1 cos her parents moved away and it was too far for her to come in daily.
College is in support and they have all done well and are almost finished too.
I guess your DD could do this too. She will need to speak to her course tutors. I am sure they will want her to finish as it is good for the college stats!0 -
I would say go for it. A year of experiece in a job she loves vs finishing a course she's not too thrilled about.
Presumably the fact she was approched for this position must say a lot for her and her future in this industry.Back on the trains again!0 -
In the past I have employed someone who was still at college for another few months. His tutors allowed him to do his assignments in the evenings/weekends and he took annual leave for days that he really needed to be at college. Incidentally, he got the job as he'd previously done work experience for us, I know some places use workies/interns as slave labour but it definitely gave him an advantage in our case!Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100
