factory shops are great. We are lucky here too ( nothing garden related) but we have Next clearance, gap outlet and an M&S clearance. Ive had some great bargains.

Strange thing tho....last week my DS1 asked me not to buy him any more GAP hoodies as he wore one to school on a non uniform day and someone told him that GAP meant Gay and Proud  so obviously he doesn't want to wear them now.....kids!

Just send him to school in a pink onsie, that will learn him ;)

I dont think corn can work unless you have a few planted together, as they protect each other, gang warfare and all that. I love my blackcurrant bushes, they are fab, and my rhubarb!!

you need a few because like people, they need a mate to reproduce ;)

They have to be planted as a group so they cross pollinate on the wind:cool:. They really need a good summer to get them to ripen properly and a long season to get more than a couple of decent cobs. There are however some varieties that are bred for the UK and are slightly better than standard varieties. Can't beat a good cob straight from the plant and enjoyed some of the best I've tasted at "corn bakes" in Canada when I worked there as a student.

Walked through many a field of rotten unharvested corn last year in this country:(

:rotfl::rotfl: the bees will do it for you ;) some plants need another plant to be pollinated from to produce the goods. I once spent a painstaking spring pollinating a melon plant with a little paintbrush. Brushing the pollen from one flower onto another flower. We got an apple size melon :o.....satisfying tho
