Thanks for all the replies to my skip questions....I like to hear what everyone thinks.

SHG hope you're not in too much pain and hope your wrist doesn't curtail you too much :(

We have lovely sunshine today but it's cold. Shopping for me today :)
When my neighbours down the road moved they had about 3 skips. They chucked loads out including brand new sheets still in cellophane.lovely lace tablecloths, perfume, garden furniture. We go cought raiding it but she said"help yourself, just mind my car" We did and made about £400 from boot sales for it.

HTH - I really do feel for her and others in her position - because at the end of the day we may try to pretend we are grown up and can survive but we miss our mammys and home more than we are prepared to fess up to:(

Soooo true Patty. I had a miserable couple of years in Bristol whilst I was at Uni there. Never settled in and was really doing the course for the wrong reasons :( Ended up on anti depressants but all I really needed was to be 'home'. Dropped out in my 3rd year (was 5 year degree) and though it was a hard decision at the time was the best one for me.

CJJ, lovely idea to do something to cheer your DD up. Bristol is a lovely city and a nice meal out with her BF will no doubt do her the power of good :)

    Morning all
Had a call from dd last night who lives in Bristol (3.5 hour drive away)
She is really fed up as not long moved there and doesn't have many friends there except work colleges. She is very lonely as her days off are different to her bf and when she is off all work colleges are at work iykwim. I would like to do something today to cheer her up. I thought about sending flowers but I don't think she is flowers type. I thought of maybe ordering a balloon in a box but am struggling to find one to deliver today. Also she is popping out today as its her day off and as she lives in top floor flat I'm not sure where the parcel could be left securely if she was out. I'm trying to think of any reserve and collects I could do for today and could ask her to go pick it up but apart from argos I can't think what I could do and at argos she would have to pay herself and I want to do that upfront. I hope this all makes sense and I would really appreciate your help with this. Tia x

What about a little pampering treat if you can track down a salon near her ?

Thanks warby this is a good idea as she loves her pampering treats although with getting her own place these things get pushed down the list of priorities don't they x
