I know this isn’t going to be a popular thread and I’m likely to get flamed, but I have a simple question for all you “PPC haters”. What is it you actually hate about PPC companies?

You are a bit late. Pompeii was flamed in AD79. :o

I will leave the regulars to bury your post in 2013 with volcanic eruptions expected from some names I can guess !!!!!!!!!.
  • I've actually revoked my text now (I'd have deleted the thread if I could)... I figured it was a waste of time and would fall on deaf ears anyway. I'll keep my rants to the pub where I can have a reasonable debate...

I wish I could get those 5 minutes of my life back...

My vision was harmony where people wouldn't take the mick but I guess this goes against the grain of MSE.

I'll stick to picking off my voucher codes from MSE...

I read your post with interest, until you removed it, and there are some valid points, however after visiting the same site twice on one day i received a letter from CP plus for an overstay that didn't happen as they appear to have got me on the first visit in, and second visit out.

These private car parking companies stink, and their behaviour is far from honourable.

Very clever... I suppose to feel complete and smug now? You've got no idea about me but you feel the need to go out of your way to suggest anyone who says something in support of a PPC actually works for a PPC.

Did you read my original rant? I had a pop at the claims made against airlines, are you suggesting I'm a trolley dolley on the weekends too?

I will give you 2 straight, honest answers that you might appreciate, as I do have some sympathy with a couple of your points.

    1. Charges of £100 for overstaying a few minutes in an otherwise free car park are extortionate. If they were more reasonable, then people might be happy to pay.

    2. When you see threads on here where PPC attendants see that someone is disabled and parking in a disabled bay with a Road Tax disc saying "Disabled tax £0.00" and still ticket them for not showing a blue badge, even though the scheme is not applicable to private land, then you might understand why people get irate.

There are loads of other examples - people parking in their own paid for parking spaces being ticketed for one current thread.

Don't forget many of these cowboys were the almost illegal clampers who caused so much misery, now bringing their talents to a different audience.

I am all for fair play and accept your point about people who park all day denying others parking spaces for which they were intended, but the PPCs' whole income comes from handing out extortionate penalties to ordinary people who just want to get about their business in a reasonable way.

So there is a reasonable answer to your deleted post which I hopw you can relate to.

I'd actually love a debate about it and to see things be changed. If the industry is full of cow boys who are being ruthless it needs to stop - I'm all for that.

My ran't was purely because I'm sick of people "getting off" or being told to ignore and things are unenforceable - its those people that are clogging up spaces for me to use and I dont mind sticking to the rules. If it costs me £2 to pay for 2 hours parking, I'll pay the £2 and be back within my 2 hours. If I need more, I'll pay for more. I dont expect a free ride in life.

Please dont get me started on mother and child bays... Now thats something that PPC's and councils should be albe to enforce and the "charges" should be £££. :)

No, just a full time PPC ;)
