What to do with mustard

I have a 170g jar of English Vineyard Mustard that was given to me by a friend who won it in a hamper. My friend doesn't drink and this mustard contains 8% white wine so they gave it to me.
Thing is I don't ever buy mustard and the only time I eat it is when I buy smoked ham and mustard sandwiches when they are reduced to 10p or similar.
It doesn't look anything like the mustard in my sandwiches, it looks quite 'grainy' though I can't put my finger on what it looks like.
I rarely cook so I don't know what I'm going to put it in to use it up, I've not even opened it yet.:o
What do you suggest I put it in to use it up?
Thanks in advance.

It last well, I have some but rarley use.
Nice dish for chicken or sausages, put chicked breasts in a bag add some olive oil, lemon juice and mustard and worcester sauce squish altogether then leave in fridge to marinade
Bung it in oven tray and and some thyme and then cook, it's delish0 -
Hi ti1980,
It sounds like dijon mustard which is milder than English mustard. If you check out google there are lots of recipes. As Night-owl says it goes well with chicken, add it to marinades, use it as a base for sauces, use it mixed with breadcrumbs to make a crust or just serve it on the side.

I'm not a big mustard fan, but I find a dollop gives cheese sauce a lovely kick0

Thanks for the replies. The last time I made anything with chicken is when I did my first rubber chicken and that was a few months ago now.
The display until date is July and the best before date is August. I don't pay too much attention to best before dates though and I know for a fact that M&S are so over-cautious when it comes to dates.
The ingredients of the mustard are:
White wine vinegar
Mustard seeds (32%)
Water
English white wine (8%)
Concentrated lemon juice
Salt
Hi Pink, when I cook (which isn't often:o ) I tend to make all in one dishes such as bacon rice, sausage risotto or pasta with vegetables. Apart from a fish finger butty, I can't remember the last time I made something for one meal. I always make 3 or 4 then freeze the extra.0 -
I had a delish honey and mustard dressing on a chicken & bacon on rocket salad with croutons yesterday... so that's something you could use it for
1/3 c. honey
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. vinegar
3 tbsp. mustard
1 c. oil
mix in that order and then in the end mix until the oil disappears - might have to make this myself for some salad... mmmmDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

I've been looking for a recipe for honey and mustard dressing too. Thank you Tine (the thanks button doesn't appear to work on my computer).0

I love mustard - all types. I spread it on top of my cheese when doing Cheese on Toast under the grill. I love a great dollop of it with my chips when I have steak. Its great for spreading on sandwiches instead of butter when you are trying to cut down on fat. Also, a spoonful in a jar with a little olive oil and about 4 times as much vinegar - give it a good shake et voila, a perfect french dressing.0

its a wholegrain mustard - not as 'hot' as english mustard, but nice and tangy!
As said above, great for honey and mustard dressing, also brilliant on sausage sarnies (my favourite), or in a ham sarnie (with or without a smidge of mayo as well), or add to chicken breasts etc befoe cooking. My dad also spreads it on steak as its cooking - its nice!
Overall, will go nicely with any meats, hot or cold, also good in dressings and sarnies (peronal foible here - with cheese in sarnies or on toast)0 -
i put mustard in mash potatoe sometimes just to use it up
i also do it with mint sauce if there is some left in the fridge0 -
Thanks for the replies. Now I have too much choice!0
