I got some wine from Virgin before, was disapointed with quality.

I'm not a wine snob or anything (I buy 5 litre plastic barrels of el-cheapo red wine in EastEnders for £4) but the Virgin stuff I tried was horrible.

I can't imagine that drinking donkey p1$$ would be much worse.

    Still, each to his/her own...............

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.
  • Oh Moly Hozes,:o I better cross my fingers then...
It looks like the deal comes to £56 for 12 mixed bottles including the delivery. I will be expecting reasonable wine (to reflect the £40 off) - I am experimenting with the different suppliers. So far John Lewis was the best for taste and great value but it was a Christmas offer.

  • Averys are doing a nice offer and the wine is good quality, or fine wine as they say... thread is here

  • Just got this offer from Virgin Wines - case of 12 wines (mixed, white or red) just £39 and they also include dartington wine glasses and a professional corkscrew. Thought perfect to set aside for Christmas prezzies!

You join their Discovery Club but no obligation to buy again - they just mail you every few months with recommendations and suggest a selection. I mailed customer service to check and they were really nice too :)

Ive just ordered some - cant wait!!

I got the voucher with a purchase from CD WOW and thought a good deal, but think it was £7.99 delivery and you had to set up a monthly direct debit of £20... then every so many months they would credit a further £20 to your account so you could spend it whenever you wanted...did i get it right as i have since thrown the leaflet out?....i have ordered wine from Tesco recently so never bothered....

I used a £40 off orders over £79.99 Virgin Wines voucher.
You don't need to order pre-mixed cases. Just mix your own, so long as you order in multiples of 12.
    I ordered 24 single bottles at £3.99/bottle which = £95.76 + £5.99 delivery = £101.75 - £40 voucher = £61.75 / 24 = £2.57/bottle.

Some of it was rank, but no worse than if you paid that per bottle in the supermarket. IIRC about 6 bottles were really nasty. They do say if you're not satisfied then they'll refund you for those bottles. Think you have to return them though, and i couldn't be bothered with the hassle.

I have since cancelled my account.

PS. No need to dial the 0870 numbers to cancel. Try 01603 886699 for customer services and to cancel. It worked for me.
