Annoying letter from Aqua

Options
3 weeks ago I applied for an Aqua, NatWest, and Tesco credit card within a few days and appeared to be accepted for all of them (I already have received and am using the latter two).

When I sent back my acceptance of the credit agreement to Aqua they also wanted a copy of photo ID and a recent statement/bill as proof of ID and address.

Today I got a letter returning my statement thanking me for sending everything back and saying an underwriter will review my application and get back to me within 7-10 days (which I assume means another credit search and seeing the other two new accounts on my report).

Is this a standard letter from Aqua?

I wouldn't say it was standard - it depends on your credit status.

I didn't get asked to send a copy of photo ID and a recent statement/bill as proof of ID and address.
(That's probably was because I have been on the electoral role and have other credit accounts registered to this address for some time. Not being on the electoral register and/or frequently moving address may often result in such a request)

Your documents will need to be checked manually, hence the added stage. I doubt they will do another search.

    I'm confused.

If you have already been accepted by Tesco and Natwest, why on earth would you still want an Awua card, which surely carries a much higher interest rate? Shouldn't you just cancel the Aqua app?

Interest rates do not affect me as I do not pay interest. I want it for the 3% cashback.

Your bracketed point is exactly the same as me though. They asked for the ID to be sent with my signed credit agreement form so had no idea if it was a recent/standard thing.

Hi The Boss. I've been half-thinking of getting the Aqua card (currently use the ex-Egg Barclaycard which is fees-free but only 1%). I'm wondering why you wanted NatWest and the Tesco cards with the Aqua Reward card, though?

Just being nosy in case I'm missing a trick!

    Thanks

Perhaps there is some confusion/inconsistency with your address history on your credit report? Have a look at your report on Noddle.co.uk and see if anything looks off. I would say generally I don't get asked for ID/address proof for a credit card application, but if I did, that would be the first thing I would check.

No probs. It is basicsly to maximise the rewards from our everyday spending. The reasons specifically for the 3 cards below are :

    NatWest for a balance transfer
    Tesco for Clubcard points
Aqua for 3% cashbsck up to maximum of £100.

I get £5/month on my Halifax Clarity card for spending £300 and maxed out the 5% cashback on Capital One and American Express cards already so do not use them now. I will also max out the Aqua 3% cashback if I get it. I repay all cards in full each month (except the NatWest balance transfer which is a fixed payment).

Thanks. This is likely it. I live in a flat with one address line for the flat (e.g. 5 Bellavista Court) and another for the street name (e.g. 140 Main Street). I have had problems since moving here two years ago with some of my accounts not showing on my credit file due to different companies storing different formats of the address - such as 'Flat 5, 140 Main Street or just Flat 5 then the post town etc. Both Experian and Equifax assured me that it only affected what I see, not what lenders see and that they would see all address combinations, but it would appear this may not be correct...
