    Correct.
    The FSA cannot find the advisor and we had been told (many years ago) that no claim is possible.

    The FSA register started in 2001. IFAs became regulated for insurance in January 2005. So, if the FSA has no info then it would suggest pre 2005.
    Can we do anything?

    No. the complaint liability is with the adviser assuming its a post 2005 case. If its a pre 2005 case then you have no-one ot complain to.
