    Afternoon all,

happy birthday to Tru, Mr Forever Saving and my youngest daughter who is 27 today, i hope you all have a lovely day.

Weather a bit dull and wet. The sun has definately got its hat on today as i cant see it anywhere. I am watching a pair of magpies in the trees through my window. They dont seem to mind the cold or the rain.

All jobs done, the girls lay on the sofa all morning and left me to get on with it.

Lamb for tea tonight i think. Not MrJudi's favourite meat but it sure is mine!

Talking about MrJudi, i need to go through the bag he keeps his medication in. I'm sure he is taking painkillers that are out of date.

    Have a good weekend all,

Greeting chums well I had an exciting afternoon yesterday. There I was sitting with feet raised watching Doctors and thinking its a shame the Drs OH went and popped his clogs ,when there was a loud roar and a bang and I thought at first that it was thunder.carried on watching t.v. then outside my house appeared an ambulance with flashing lights. My neighbour is 87, and has dementia and her DD is her carer so not wanting to be nosey I thought perhaps she had been taken ill. Then I thought 'Hmm there seems to be a lot of folk outside?'.I looked out of the window and on my neighbours drive, a car had not stopped opposite when coming down the hill and had crashed into her porch. We have adjoining porches so I thought I'd better stck my head out and see what was happening. It was carnage out there .this poor old chap had lost control and somehow missed two concrete posts and gone staight across and up the drive and steps outside and semi demolished the porch. There were firemen police and an ambulance plus all of the road seemed to have turned out to watch. The driver was concious and I spoke to him and said your OK but you car's a bit of a mess but stay awake if you can and the rescue chaps will get you out.My neighbour however came to the door, bless her, and said 'oh its getting very noisy in Brown Street isn't Jackie' .She can still recognize me and I asked where her DD Mary was, and she said 'I don't know'.Poor old luv she was very confused.Mary had popped over to the shops so some one scooted off to find her.Meanwhile everywhere was cordoned off and the road was closed for several hours.About half an hour later a police lady knocked on my door and said You have to get out as we can't guarantee your saftey because until a structual engineer looks at it the whole front of the houses may come down. This worried me more than somewhat,so I rang both of my DDs and told them, and went to the youngest DDs house to stay last night.Son-in-law and I returned to my house at around five and the car was still embedded into the porch and the engineers were awaiting the emergebcy chaps to come and shore the porches up as they couldn't move the car out in case the whole lot came down. The engineer had a good look around my property and said mine seemed to be ok but until the car was shifted he didn't advise me going back into it.My neighbour has gone into respite care and her DD has gone to her brother's.I came back this morning with my son-in-law and the building has been shored up and made secure but my neighbour and her DD can't return until the repairs are done as her porch has pushed in her main wall at the front. My porch seems to be OK apart from the odd crack but mostly its cosmetic so I can move back in
While awaiting the police's verdict I had a call from the local paper and they asked if I could take a photo,so I said OK so I did and texted it to them.If you look on the Medway Messenger site it should be on there. It was so lucky that no one was killed. The driver hurt his leg and was taken to hospital but I don't think its too serious.
Mind you my DGS loved having an unexpected overnight guest.I was glad to get back into my own home again this morning though.I adore my family but when something like this happens you just worry about your home.next door is all boarded up and has big gate type fences around the drive to stop anyone getting in.I shall still be a bit nervous about it being empty for any length of time though. Then today my computer started to play up and my lovely son-in-law:A who is pure gold:A nipped round and sorted it out for me I shall treat him to something liquid at the weekend I know he is partial to JD and he has been such a help bless him He even swept all the glass up that had landed in my drive and on the steps so I wouldn't get it inot the house or the tyres of my car.I am now just about to toddle off to History club for an afternoon devoted to the rise of the Trade Unions
Hope you all have a good day and happy birthday to tru

Good grief, Jackie; it's a wonder the driver wasn't killed! I just Googled the Medway Messenger and had a look at the report. It's lucky you have a lovely family who could give you a bed while they made sure your place was safe to be in.

  • Happy birthday to all those celebrating!

Saveaholic I knit a lot but I hate sizing so I only knit blankets, scarves and things like that, no sizing necessary! Wool is stupidly expensive. I can buy a jumper for the price of a ball of wool. I do buy most wool from Deramores though. They are on top cash back and always have offers on. If you sign up to their newsletter you get a code and then they email weekly with new offer.

Jackie how scary! Be careful though as the article has your full name on it. I once missed that a GP surgery was on fire at the end of my road. I could smell burning so searched my house for the source. Having not found anything I opened my front door and there were police, fire engines, local reporters and loads of people outside. It was only 100 metres from my house and I didn't notice any noise.:rotfl:

    :bdaycake:Happy birthday Tru!
:eek:OMG JackieO, so lucky no-one was seriously hurt!

Having a bit of a strange day, sinuses still giving me gyp, as a result feel a bit odd, as though I am kind of distanced from things, if that makes sense. Stayed in bed reading till lunchtime, then got up and thought to heck with it, have been on the sofa reading since then!!! DD can make her own dinner tonight, DS will no doubt be out as his friend who went to the army last week is injured and on her way home as we speak!
Its been raining and hailstones here today, so not missing anything much outside, and not spending!
    Have a good day all!
    RIP Iain

    Evening all
Our network has been down for 2 days, turns out someone decided to fiddle around with it, it's now working again.
Hubby's working tomorrow, so another early start.
All mention of comic relief banned at work, Mr Shouty doesn't approve of fun, he nearly had an apoplexy when he realised the canteen were selling biscuits with red noses on, lol.
    Have a good evening everyone.
    Hugs Hester

JackieO - What a terrible shock, hope everyone is ok.
    Happy Birthday Tru!

HH - Boo to Mr Shouty. We had a great day at school, there was a talent show and I was a judge. It was brilliant and the children got to vote for the eventual winner, we had an act from each class in the final that took place this afternoon. I must admit to being a little nervous when I had to speak but the children didn't care!

Busy cleaning the house as we have a viewer tomorrow morning, DD was meant to be off today but had to work, shame as she was going to do most of the tidying!! Anyway she has now gone out and I shall pick her up later. She's back at work at 9 tomorrow morning so I have been a very nice mummy and cleaned her room and bathroom. Just the main bathroom to do but I will do that tomorrow when I have had a shower.

Hope you all have a good weekend. Take care. XX
