Tesco rewards not very rewarding

When I tried to use the vouchers for hotel breaks I found that the different hotel chains had different rules on the rates you got using the vouchers and the hotels had very little availability using the vouchers ie you maybe could not get two nights in a row or one night had to be a Sunday. In the end I used my vouchers for something else.

Pizza Express and Cineworld are pretty good - You can get a night out for two people for £20-30 worth of vouchers.

Again this is a none story. Shock horror the t&cs on a voucher are based on rack rate. Look at airmiles you can end up paying more in taxes and charges than other flights. Or holiday inn express points.

My calculation is does it save me cold hard cash yes then use them no then buy and use the clubcard vouchers elsewhere.

Ours like the poster above tend to get used on pizza express and attractions

Tesco clubcard hotels and holidays have always been "full brochure price rate". No website prices or special offers can be used with the vouchers. You used to get 4x the value (and sometimes you can if there's a special offer at certain times of the year) otherwise its now 3x. All members were told of this.

It really depends on where you go, with what company and when. I use my vouchers for Butlins and Park Resorts during the school summer holidays. I alternate company yearly. Now during August Butlins is very expensive either brochure or web price and it's cash price. However my vouchers lessen the total by 3x that amount. We save £400 by using our vouchers compared to getting a cheapy direct deal online. For me that's worth it! Who wouldn't want to save £400? :rotfl::rotfl:

However, there have been many times when I have looked at booking a weekend at Butlins with my vouchers and it was cheaper to book direct using the online prices! As I say it depends when you go and really how many vouchers you have.

During Januaury and February clubcard will offer 4x on some deals but you have to order and book a deal quickly. Remember you can also part buy a deal with half vouchers and half cash.

I looked at booking a week at Park Resorts, I had £45 in vouchers and thought I'd book our summer holiday. I looked on their web site and got the price I thought. I ordered my clubcard vouchers and called park resorts order line. The lady on the phone gave me a price of £125 more then the web price. When I enquired about the proce discrepancy I was told that clubcard holders must pay the full rate. I politely declined and then booked through the web site. If I'd used my £45 vouchers I would have saved £10.
I then had to call tesco and explain the situation, and thankfully for this one time they reimbursed my vouchers.
So lesson learned, always call and get the price before you order vouchers.

unfortunatly you pay full brochere price when using Tesco vouchers, but at the end of the day we get them free in the 1st place....

I rang for a holiday with cosmos - rang as a normal customer quoted one price, rang back on the Tesco number - actually got through to the same girl I spoke to - explained I was looking at tesco vouchers - wanted to know what the difference was - as tripled my vouchers were worth nearly 1k, - the difference £13........ xx

Tesco vouchers are certainly not free, they are factored into the prices you pay for other goods.

Having used Tesco vouchers in Prezzo many times over the years, this evening we went to Prezzo in Billericay for a birthday treat for my daughter. Now, despite eating in Prezzo with Tesco vouchers for my wife's birthday at the beginning of June with no problems, we found out tonight that Prezzo no longer accept Tesco vouchers on the children's meals! And after reading the Tesco Rewards website, the same applies to Pizza Express, even though we ate there for Father's Day three weeks ago!!

A few years ago these vouchers could be used for everything, including drinks but then drinks were excluded, (which caught us out when paying for a meal in Cafe Uno in 2006 with no cash between us!) which I guess is understandable. But to now exclude children's meals as well is madness! Surely many families use these vouchers and wouldn't necessarily go to these restaurants otherwise. When they realise they can't be used in full anymore, I expect many people will look to other offers to spend their Tesco tokens, such as Days Out vouchers, where they will get better value.

What does grate on me though, is that when we ordered these vouchers two months ago, kids meals WERE included and the really annoying thing is we are now stuck with a £10 Prezzo voucher that we expected to use this evening and are now stuck with, because we won't be back!!
